Two sighthound cross breeds are looking for a home. They are first generation Sloughi x Cane Corso. However their tattoos have them registered as crossbreeds, therefore they are not first category dogs and will not need special insurance or a behaviour exam.
They are 2 year old litter sisters named Carma (black dog) and Curcuma (brindle dog). Curcuma is the largest of the two (at around 50 kilos), Carma is smaller. They had no contact with the outside world for their first 2 years. Carma is very shy and relies on her sister for confidence. Curcuma is more confident than her sister and is described as a ‘big teddy bear’.
Initially a home was wanted for them together as it was thought they relied on each other too much but as they have had more exposure to the outside world we think that they can be rehomed separately although we think that they would both do well with at least one other confident dog for company.
They are good with other dogs although predominantly have only really socialized with other sighthounds thus far. Despite the cross they behave like sighthounds, and will need an experienced home to bring them on. Due to their size they really need to learn some manners as they are both quite clumsy and ‘puppylike’ at present. They are both eager to learn and crave human contact and affection.
Due to their size and current more boisterous behaviour it is felt they should not be rehomed with younger children. Older teenagers who understand dogs would be fine. They have never shown any aggression towards people but are just too clumsy at the moment to be reliable in a home with young children. They have never seen cats so we are not sure if they would be cat friendly. They are both neutered.
These two loveable dogs have been now in kennels for 6 months waiting for a home. Due to their size and cross people are not interested in giving them a chance. All they need to be happy is a little training and lots of affection from the right person. If you could give either of these dogs a home or could pass this information on to anyone who may be interested it would be appreciated.
