Video of galga Eden who came to Galgos Rescue Almeria covered in ticks and starving. Great to see her doing so well, and what a lovely forgiving dog.

Blind galgo Balu safe with Protectora Scooby
From Cobie at Scooby Residencia Valladolid‘This very sweet galgo is blind and if that isn’t already bad enough, now he also has a bloodear/othematome in both ears! He has been operated on for this rather painfull issue in the Scooby hospital in Santovenia. All went well and he (Balu) is back and he has undergone the operation as a real hero! He does not like too much the Isabellina cap but what needs to be has to be and hopefully it won’t be needed very long. Well done to the vets and to our special blind boy Balu.
Donations to help with the vet fees will be gratefully received.

Scooby Spanish Dog Rescue UK – helping find forever homes for Scooby hounds
Scooby Spanish Dog Rescue UK is the UK agent responsible for rehoming abandoned and often abused dogs from the Scooby Animal Shelter in Medina, northern Spain. We find suitable foster and permanent adoption homes throughout the UK and take care of all the stages from bringing your chosen Spanish rescue from the shelter to the UK.Our aim is to help Scooby Medina rehome the excess of dogs that they protect to prevent them living the rest of their days in the shelter, sadly there is simply not enough demand at this present time to all be rehomed in Spain. Over time we hope this might change and our services will no longer be required. This can only be achieved by educating and raising awareness throughout the rural communities of Spain into understanding the importance of neutering and to eradicate needless neglect, cruelty and abandonment for good.

Galgo Rayo for adoption – with Galgos Rescue Almeria
Sandy says
‘He arrived at our shelter on June 17th.
Rayó is such a sweetheart of a dog, unfortunately this sweetie tested positive for Leishmania. If you watch this video you will see how playful, social, cheerful this boy is. Leishmania is not the end as long as it is kept under control with the right treatment, medication and regular blood tests, these darlings can get old too. Give dogs with Leishmania a chance at happiness, too.

Galgo puppies fighting the virus – with Galgos Rescue Almeria
Further update from Sandy Galgoslover.
‘Running a rescue center means to be available for the animals day and night. Past night was tuff, almost a sleepless night, as Iris’s little ones have moved to our living room for care. They get food every few hours and the necessary attention & cuddles. Yesterday morning we decided to take 2 more little ones to the vet, both girls didn’t ate/drank anymore.
We could visit their brother, he seemed to be on the mend, but it’s way too early to say hurrah. He will have to keep fighting hard in the coming days. Mum Iris didn’t looked very well, still the same: no improvement and her eyes radiated sadness. It’s heartbreaking to see them like this, if only we could take over their pain and suffering.
Any help/support will be needed to cover their medical expenses. More updates to follow.

Galgos Rescue Almeria – a small shelter with a big heart
From Sandy Galgoslover at Galgo’s Rescue Almeria
Volunteering for a charity fund raising is so important. Without funds we are unable to offer the full range of help and support the dogs need.
Ask yourselves this question “ would you miss one euro a month “? That euro lying around everywhere,…..In the current situation every euro counts to help the animals in our care, and that is why we have set up a teaming group. For that small regular amount you can be part of our ‘Team’ (Galgosrescuealmeria) and support those who need our help the most. We’re hoping that most of our supporters and followers will join forces to raise much needed funds. All we are asking is that you commit to just one euro a month. Please follow the link below to be a part of this fund raising group.
Remember in Teaming the important thing is not how much we give but with how many we are. Only together we can achieve more.
