  • Council of Badajoz – refuting their false claims

At the meeting of the Pleno at Badajoz Town Hall on Monday, 9 June 2014, Councillor Ana Serra told a story about the social work performed by the municipal perrera. A place of sanctuary, where the dogs can go if they are lost or abandoned, to be fed, watered and rested, and to wait for their owners to claim them or to be adopted. We have accompanied her words with pictures, to make it clear what is the reality and what is in the imagination.

SOS Perrera Badajoz illustrate just who stupid this woman is! Does she not understand the truth which flies around on the Internet?!

  • Barcelona Zoo – galgo statue

Barcelona galgo statue 170The galgueros will always continue to deny any of them maltreat their dogs. There are a few who do not but they are as guilty insofar as they do nothing to prevent the majority who abandon, murder, starve their hounds. I have copied this from a post on my Save the Galgo facebook page.

Trying to sell a distinction between killing and disposing of Galgos.

The galguero federations across Spain have become very active in defense of the claims that galgos in the tens of thousands are abandoned and brutally abused and killed at the end of each hunting season.

The block of kennels on the left is for the rescued galgos and the block to the right is the kennels for dogs for people who work during the week and have their dog home for weekends, or when they go on holiday. In the distance is the city of Valladolid. Several of the galgos in the Residencia have left this week for forever homes in Europe. Please support Scooby.

  • Adopt a rescue dog – reasons not to buy from a pet shop

One of the things I hate about living in France is the number of animals sold in pet shops – from lizards and young snakes to cats, rabbits, puppies. The only thing about the puppies and cats is that they are pedigree and usually priced from 300 euros upwards. So hopefully not a ‘spur of the moment’ purchase. Here’s an interesting article on the subject.

  • Ferria of 100 x 100 Mascotas (Pets) Madrid – SOS Perrera Badajoz speaks out

Badajoz Queen Sofie 250 5 2014Her Majesty, Queen Sofia of Spain, visited the exhibition of IFEMA in Madrid where they were holding the Feria of 100 x 100 Mascotas (Pets) at the weekend.

The Queen very kindly stopped at the stand of SOS Perrera Badajoz and listened attentively to the explanations of Jorge and Noemi, two of our volunteers, about our work and the situation with the dogs in the perrera.

She was touched to hear about Dora’s case, who received lots of stroking from her, and at the end, she was interested in our claims against the Town Hall of Badajoz and took away with her a complete dossier and documentation about our denuncia.
