Galgos Rescue Almeria – no end to the abandonment
No end to the abandonment of hunting dogs and it’s not yet the end of the hunting season in Spain!!Galgos Rescue Almeria were alerted to these 3 abandoned souls and asked to take them if they could be caught.
People with a big heart for animals tried a few hours to gain their trust. Unfortunately they only saw 2 of them.
After some time they managed to save both ( one male / one female ). Hopefully the third one can also been saved, fingers crossedTwo of the three galgos who were wondering around in El Ejido area are safe now at GRA. First of all many thanks Nathalie and Patrick for not giving up on them and to bring them to our shelter. The nights are getting colder and it’s a very dangerous area so hopefully the third one shows up again and can be also be brought to safety.

Please help Ann’s Canine Care find a new refuge
Ann Marie Payne has helped hundreds of galgos and podencos over the years. Now, through no fault of her own, she finds herself without a refuge. Please read the story on this weblink and donate to help her set up a new one.

Galgo starving and lost in Badajoz, Extramadura – life for Spanish hunting hounds
From my ‘Save the Galgo’ facebook page.‘This dog has been lost for a week or so by Talarrubias… Must belong to a Rehala by the brand (H). Surely it’s from someone who has gone hunting in Talarrubias (that’s Badajoz, Extramadura, a hell hole for hunting dogs) or surrounding areas and they have stayed there without realizing it, but the poor is in the bones and needs help, although when you call him he comes out running like a soul carrying the devil. I don’t think it will last much longer without eating… Thank you.’
NB A rehala is where hunting hounds are kept and hired out to galgueros

Galgos Rescue Almeria – 2 galgos handed in by their hunter
From Sandy at Galgos Rescue Almeria.‘Last weekend the owner of these 2 galgos came by to ask if we wanted to take them over. These 2 males have been used to run but after only 1 year of service they are no longer useful. What we already feared, of course money is being asked for them. GRA wants a new and different life for both boys, therefore all help / support is welcome to buy and take over the dogs from their owner. They also going need bloodtest/ vaccinations/ castration

Justice for galga Duna – hung by a Spanish thief
Please sign this petition and share widely. Bring the perpetrator to justice! On Friday, November 26, while they were doing their last training course in the Sierra de Tajonar, an individual put her in his van and took her away. Thanks to the GPS locator that DUNA was wearing, they found her hanged on his private farm.
Let’s eradicate violence towards animals once and for all. Real legal actions are urgently needed to punish the mistreatment and murder of animals.
A person who abuses an animal in this way does not feel empathy towards other living beings. Cruelty causes violence, and violence, crime.
Society must continue to advance towards a more just world with everyone. It is necessary that the animal movement continues to push to make those who are insensitive see that animals matter and that the cruelty that is exercised legally or illegally towards them must be stopped.

Pet galga stolen and hung – Navarra, Spain
Yo Galgo is in Tajonar, Navarra, Spain. This is the story of Duna
A couple of days ago, a couple was training recall with their beloved galga, Duna, in the countryside of Spanish province Navarra. At one point, Duna didn’t return.
Duna was off leash in an area, where dogs are allowed to run free, she was wearing a coat and a collar. No doubt she had owners. Still a man had taken her, put her in his car and taken off. Duna was wearing a GPS, and following it’s signal, they quickly located Duna in a farmhouse, where she had been hung!
We are so outraged!!! And heartbroken for Juan and Laura, the owners of Duna, who they adopted 1,5 year ago.
