  • Injured Galgo in Cadiz, can an association take him and heal him?

Galgo eye 1 250 1 2 2012This poor soul is in Barbate, Cadiz. He is very thin and, as you can see, has an eye out. Surprisingly he is willing to get n a car, he is not too afraid, wags his tail a bit. The problem is that the volunteer has not the funds to pay for the operation needed on the eye. She desperately needs a foster home for him, and an association to take care of the eye operation with their vet. Please, is there an association anywhere who will take this poor boy in and save what is left of his eye. Goodness knows what caused this damage.

If you can take him, please contact Helena 657133551 helenamalia89@gmail.com

  • Chiclana, Cadiz – Happy Ending/Final Feliz saving dogs

Happy Endings Chiclana 250Happy Ending/Final Feliz is an animal rescue association near Chiclana, Cadiz. The association was created by Margarita, a Norwegian lady who keeps the rescued dogs in her own home, surviving on her pension and funds raised from car boot sales organised by her volunteer helpers. Earlier in the year, the association were threatened with court action as they were informed the land (used regularly by the public) was privately owned.

However, life improved this year for Margarethe and the dogs. She tells the story.

  • Escape from Jerez killing station – forever together in the UK

Holly in jerez 12 2010 In the middle of December I posted one of many appeals about galgos dumped in Jerez perrera for killing – the Spanish hunting season was only half over! An email arrived in my Inbox from a lady in the UK who had her eye on one of the galgas and asking if I could arrange contact with someone nearby Jerez/Cadiz who could rescue her. As I’d already asked for a young one to be rescued for me, wheels were set in motion. The galgas were reserved – 3 and a puppy, and 112carlotagalgos travelled to the perrera to collect the dogs.

One of them, beautiful Risa, came to me for foster and rehoming – she is now with a lovely lady in northern France. Sadly the puppy became very ill and died. Holly, as the cream galga was named, was put into kennels, as was the other galga – who was very timid and lacking in confidence.
