Galgo & Podenco rescue associations – where were you on 11 October 2014?
The way animal rescue associations criticise each other really gets me angry! Here’s a post I wrote on my Save the Galgo facebook page.
On Saturday, 11th October 2014, I was pleased to be a part of the demonstration and publicity in the Trocadero, Paris, organised by Galgos Ethique Europe, illustrating to the general public the beautiful galgos who were there as ambassadors for their breed, and telling of the dreadful maltreatment they suffer in Spain at the hands of the galgueros and gitanos.

URGENT – 1 MILLION SIGNATURES REQUIRED
Cobie Steketee posted news on her fb page that the Federation Nacional and Galgo Hunting Clubs want to raise 1 million signatures to request UNESCO to class hunting with galgos as World Cultural Heritage. This would mean it could NEVER be banned! I asked my friends om Paris at Galgos Ethique Europe to raise a petition in response. It will be presented to UNESCO HQ in Paris.

A written declaration for Hounds all over Europe
Published 26 Novembre 2012 par Collectif Européen pour la Protection des Lévriers
We have been quite busy this summer. Twice we have met with mrs. Michele Striffler, Member of the European Parliament and vice-president of the Eurogroup on the Welfare of Animals.
Last July, via their attachés, we presented Mrs.Striffler and Mrs Durant the two questions that we still see as an option after the questions posed by Mrs. Durant in 2010, on request of Galgos Ethique Europe, and the question posed in October 2011 by Mrs. Kartika Liotard, on request of Greyhounds Rescue Holland. The last request was supported by a number of European organisations. A complaint on behalf of citizens is premature, given the subsidiarity principle with regards to domestic animals, especially dogs and cats, and the obstacles found in the Spain on this matter.
