  • In Memory of Midnight Terror, an Australian greyhound in Macau, China

    Macau Midnight Terror 400 11 2018
In the past I have reported on the Australian Greyhound breeders and trainers sending their unwanted hounds to China. This they have vehemently denied doing! Here’s proof that they did, although this story does have a sort of happy ending.

    From Albano Martins in Macau

‘Midnight Terror, almost 10 years old, born on 1st December 2008, Australian, male, black color, died in Macau Municipal Kennel with Septicaemia, even after a blood transfusion by another greyhound!

I had been the day before in the Kennel to see his health situation and i found there Mr. Leung Chi Keung, his future owner, taking care of him! He has been a constant volunteer taking care of Midnight Terror from the first beginning in Canidrome! This is a good example of a responsible adopter!

On 15 November at 3:00 pm, Midnight Terror was cremated in Coloane Municipal Kennel and Mr.Leung will keep his ashes paid already by him!

    Thanks Mr.Leung Chi Keung!

  • Greyhound Industry in Freefall – galgo hunting and racing next?

Greyt Exploitations sent the following information.

‘Rarely do you come across a full and frank viewpoint from the gambling industry but an eagle eyed American colleague spotted a video of Gordon Bissett – head of Ladbrokes Greyhound Stadia – delivering a speech during a conference organised by the American greyhound racing industry in March of this year. You’ve heard of buy one get one free – well we have that with dogs” says Gordon Bissett – Head of Ladbrokes Greyhound Stadia

Mr Bissett appeared blissfully unaware his ‘viewpoint’ on the decline of greyhound racing would be placed in the public domain – the contents of which are not only very encouraging for the greyhounds but also for those who serve to protect them.’

  • Plea from an abandoned dog – two beautiful poems

Here are two very moving poems sent to me by a reader of Galgo News, authors are unknown.

Dear God please send me somebody who’ll
    care!

I’m tired of running, I’m sick with despair.
My body is aching, it’s so racked with pain.
And Dear God I pray as I run in the rain,

That someone will love me and give me a home.
A warm cozy bed I can call my own
My last owner neglected me and chased me away
To rummage in garbage and live as a stray.
