  • A severe case of Mange – what happens if not treated

    Scooby Lucy 250 3So many wonderful Spanish people now working hard to help the abandoned and discarded dogs in their country. Yet it never fails to astound me that there sre STILL so many ignorant unfeeling people who can just walk by the sight of an animal suffering! One such case is Lucy, a little galga rescued with Scooby. Cobie tells the story.

    ‘This sweet little galga girl is Lucy, she´s 5 months old and was saved a few weeks ago from the perrera provincial from Valladolid by Scooby. The police had brought her there because she was walking on the street although she had an owner which was a gypsie. That person has done nothing about the severe mange she was suffering of and her whole body was covered in blood, infections and bad wounds.

  • A hell of a life for a galgo in Spain

    ‘This coming weekend of January 10 will begin the long awaited Spanish National Championship for the Galgo in the village of Madrigal de las Altas Torres. Thousands upon thousands of galgos have been competing this season all for the foolish dreams of their owners that they will produce the Champion of Spain. The competition is now down to a handful of dogs and the excitement is building.

  • Pedrera, Seville – abandoned dogs – the nightmare continues…

    2015 – the start of a new year – in the first week 2 puppies and 4 galgos have been dumped at the gates, one of the galgos in bad condition. The situation is desperate – it costs 700 euros/month to feed the dogs. Please help Jane and Alan – sponsor and donate here. And anyone willing to organise fundraising, please get in touch.   • The Plight of the Spanish Galgo – in the spotlight in the UK Daily Mail

    I recently reported about professional British photographer Martin Usborne visiting Malaga to learn about the plight of the galgos. He is there again this week, visiting shelters in the Seville area, to photograph galgos for an exhibition later in the year. See Ebro walking here!
