Save the Galgo – Stop the suffering

Join us on International Day of the Dog

Come walk with us on the 3rd International Day of the Dog (IDOD), Sunday 27th April 2008. The IDOD was the brainwave of Dog Listener Jan Fennell, who wanted to celebrate the canine species and acknowledge the wonderful relationship which can exist between man or woman and his 4-legged companion.

So what we want is as many people as possible to do something on this day, whether it is organising a dog walk with friends, or the local dog training club – in order to raise funds for your favourite canine charity.

The Poitou regional branch of L’Europe des Levriers (EDL) is organising a dog walk in Deux-Sevres (79) at Celles-sur-Belle, between Niort and Melle. There will be 2 circuits, one of 5.5 km and the other about 2, for those who haven’t got enough puff.

We’ll be starting at the car park opposite the Abbaye Royale, and rosettes kindly sponsored by Allez Francais, will be awarded to all the dogs taking part, and all the money collected from entry fees, 5 euros per dog, will be donated to EDL.

Bring a picnic lunch or dine in one of the cafes in the village square. If you haven’t got a dog, don’t worry, you can still walk, and we can even lend you a dog for the event!

So, come on, best foot forward and walk with us.

Email me from the homepage if you want to come.

And if any of you would like to organise a similar event – anything to celebrate the International Day of the Dog, please do, and don’t forget to let me know what you do. Then we can read about it on Galgo News.
