Save the Galgo – Stop the suffering

Christmas lunch takes shape

Popped along to the venue for the lunch on Sunday. I’ve not been before, and I was very impressed. It’s a clubhouse, stone walls and wooden beams, with a stylish wooden bar, and an assortment of furniture.

Unfortunately the snooker table was well taped over with plywood – it’s got to serve as the table for the food!

All organised as to where the raffle table will be, the table with the laptops running slide shows of previous rescues and Spanish refuges where the galgos are brought from, and a table for Martin to sell general items like books and T shirts and cards. Looks like there will be over 40 of us, so that’s good for a first event.

I’ve called us all Les Amicales Anglais de L’Europe des Levriers. Thought that had a nice French ring to it. Oh, yes, and Clothilde Cadu from Courrier de L’Ouest responded to my letter to the paper asking them to publish an ‘after the event’ report, so TOH has to take lots of photos for the paper too.

Sue, as main organiser, has done a wonderful job. She deserves a gold medal. Have to see what I can do!
