Rescued from the horrors of Spain. Yor, Brenda, Adonis and Sara were brought out of Spain by Amigos de los Galgos and are now being fostered by volunteer Joanna Simm in the Aude, southern France
If you can offer them forever homes, please get in touch with Joanna, who can explain what to do.
Yor, Adonis Sara, and Brenda are four gorgeous galgos who are looking for their forever homes. I am currently acting as foster Mum to them, and they are all so sweet and loving I would keep them all if I could, but then I couldn’t help to save any more so I have to look for adopters for them.
They need special people, who will love them forever, because they haven’t had a very good start to life in Madrid, where, like many other galgos and other animals they have been abused and abandoned. Can you provide that happy ending they so deserve?
Adonis gained his name because to know him is to fall in love. He is such a sweetheart, gentle, quiet and clean even though he has never been a house dog. All he wants in life is a quiet place to be comfy, and lots and lots of love and human company.
He is good with other dogs and, so far, shows no unhealthy interest in cats. He is about 7 years old, so should have a good few years left to experience the kind of life he deserves. A place by the fireside please for this fellow! He’s a real no bother sort of chap…just lives for your love.
Brenda, well, what can I say about this little girl…what a beautiful galga. If she had been born in England people would have been offering large amounts of money for her…she looks like a wonderfully rough coated cream coloured lurcher…the kind that has come form a deerhound cross.
She’s only about a year old, was found straying in Spain, abandoned and left to whatever fate awaited her. She is very sweet natured, affectionate and playful. She loves everybody and everything! A home with kids or other young dogs to play would suit her well.
Yor is an easy, affectionate and quiet boy, very calm and easy to be around. He is a handsome chap, tall and cream coloured, with very expressive ears that seem to have a life of their own! He loves people, is fine with other dogs, gentle and a little playful too… we think he is about 6 but he seems younger.
He is never happier than when he has something to chew (though he doesn’t chew the furniture!), and adores those chewy things you can buy in pet shops. He is thin at the moment, he was rescued from the dog pound in Madrid last November.
He is lively and well though he has a low degree of lesishmania, which means that he needs a pill twice a day at the moment. He will be blood tested again in March to see how he is doing, and hopefully the dose can be reduced to once a day. I can supply further details if you wish, but this disease (which comes from the bite of sandflies and mosquitoes) is easily controlled, non transferable to dogs or humans, and certainly need not get in the way of a long happy life for the lovely Yor.
Sara is a little black and white galga, is only about 2 years old but she has had a very unhappy time up to now. She has belonged to a hunter, and is quite frightened of everybody as she has clearly been beaten in the past. She is slowly gaining confidence, but needs lot of reassurance, love and understanding.
She is a tiny, pretty little girl, silky coated and very quiet. Her next home must be a home for life as she is just getting her confidence with me and needs to be settled with someone who will love her forever. She is young and has plenty of time to get over her bad start, do you have the time and patience for her?
A calm, tranquil home with plenty of human company will be wonderful for Sara. Sara is fine with other dogs too, non aggressive and sweet.
If you think you could offer a home to any of these galgos, pleas let me know, email me in the first instance at
I will happily give more information about all the dogs, the adoption process and back up advice for life if needed.

STOP PRESS…sadly, Brenda’s adoption has fallen through…..so she is available for adoption again. I am sure it won’t belong before someone falls in love with this blonde bombshell!!!
