This is a Malagueno Podenco from Andalucia. She is about the size of a Yorkshire Terrier. In other words, tiny!
She was found, terrified and injured, on a motorway near Seville. Luckily a young Spanish woman, a volunteer at the Sofía El Refugio Escuela refuge, stopped her car, and managed to catch the traumatized dog. She had an injury to a hind leg, open wounds on her body, and was starving.
She named the little dog Bebe, which means ‘born again’.
She is one of the lucky ones, making the journey out of Spain to France, to join my canine family. Her wounds have healed, leaving only scars, her dislocated hip is to be operated on to improve her movement, and she is an extremely happy little dog, gaining in confidence every day.
But there are other podencos not so lucky. Many are found abandoned, wandering the streets searching for food, trying to survive at the end of the hunting season.
So far, I haven’t received reports of them being hung, like the galgos. But nevertheless, theirs is also a sad existence. Ibizan Hound Rescue. has podencos looking for forever homes.
This is a little podenca in the street which Rosanna is feeding but cannot house, if anyone can take her in fostering her or adopting her that would be great.
If its a temporary home, Rosanna can look for a adopter. Just another abandoned case after the hunt season… poor poor thing!
If you can help her email: rosaneta75@hotmail.com

saw your tiny podenco Bebe.
Have a week ago adopted Pody (Podenco Andaluz (or whatever he is – it´s not important to me).
Have – with Pody – 5 dogs. The others are medium sized (labrador and “multi-dogs” – one from Greece (my Luke), he came here with a smashed hind leg. Walks finely now, with a slight limp, though.
Maybe Bebe could fit in here? How do I get her home?
Best regards – no, hugz

Hi
Welcome to Galgo News. How lovely that you have a podenco andaluz, is he tiny? How very kind of you to offer Bebe a home. However, as I have said in my tale, she has joined my canine family – permanently.
The podenco looking for a home is the other one, living on the streets, being fed by Rosanna. You need to contact her direct, as per the story.
Please tell us about your podenco, it would be lovely to feature Pody, and add some pictures.
And thank you for supporting the fight for a better life for the galgos.
