A Little Light Relief!

Beryl and KarmelWhy do we love these galgos/greyhounds so much? For me it is their sleek lines, elegance of movement, regal stance, and most importantly all the love and affection they give to us unconditionally in spite of the cruelty most of them experience?

It’s because they also make us laugh – and remind us that they can sniff food out.

Yesterday I took 4 herby sausages wrapped in cling film out of the freezer, to defrost for a bbq dinner last night. During the day the sausages disappeared.

Today the cling film appeared out of the rear end of my galga – luckily we had finished lunch!

Tonight I was preparing vegetables to stir fry for chicken curry. The pre-cooked chicken was on top of the kitchen worktop. I popped into the other room to check on how Andy Murray was doing against Rafael Nadal – we all know Murray will lose – and when I got back into the kitchen, the bowl of pre-cooked chicken was on the floor with a galga’s nose in it………..and 2 more dogs looking on hopefully!

So now we are having Vegetable Curry for dinner!

I took my beautiful galga Karmel to the vet today for her annual vaccinations – it is a year on 4th July since I brought her out of Spain.

My vet is a lovely young women, adores dogs and especially knows about the dogs of Spain. Vaccinations complete, with just a little whimper from Karmel and hugs from the vet, and I loaded her back in the car, fired up and turned out of the carpark.

And I couldn’t believe my eyes! There was a lovely brindle galgo and a white/brown whippet just walking in!

I stopped – well, you do when you see another French person who loves sighthounds – called out of the driver’s window that I had a galga in the car and made to get out!! And they pointed out there was a car behind me – and so I didn’t have chance to chat to them!

Bother! But, hey, that’s life! Full of missed opportunities.
