Candys Hound International Rescue – sighthounds rescued from China meat markets
Galgos don’t tend to end up crammed in the meat truck cages en rout for the slaughterhouse in China. But many greyhounds do. Candys Hound International Rescue is a UK based rescue which works tirelessly with a couple of shelters in China to rescue greyhounds bound for killing for meat and brings them to Europe and the UK for foster and rehoming.
The hunters of Spain are well known for their maltreatment of their hunting dogs – galgos, podencos and more – but I thought readers would be interested to see what goes on in China, where the dogs are killed to be eaten.
Scroll down the above link to see the work the association does to help as many dogs as they financially are able.

Further update on galga Galena with Asociacion Somos Galgos
They have already operated on our little girl, Galena. Her wound was healing very well with the treatments. They have cut off the edges of her dead skin so that it closes properly and have done a complete reconstruction inside and out. The traumatologists are happy with the result and we are even more so!!! It is noticeable that she wants to live, and we want her to be well so that we can start a second and happy life.We have managed to pay the bills in several installments, so if you help us a little more, we will be able to continue giving her the care she deserves (for her and for Cate who also needs surgery) We ask for help and we thank you for the support this little one is getting, you know that without you we could not bear the weight of the association. If you want to adopt, contact through: https://linktr.ee/somos_galgosBizum: NGO Code 01979Transfer: La Caixa ES89 2100 4991 6622 0027 0343.Join here: www.teaming.net/somosgalgosEvery gesture counts. Galgos Rescue Almeria – saving the galgos for 10 years
From a barren piece of land to a safe haven…Almost 10 years ago, the doors of Galgos Rescue Almería opened to dogs who had nowhere else to turn. Dogs who were hungry, injured, abused, or simply discarded. Dogs who had lost everything except the hope of a better future. When we purchased the land, it was nothing more than an empty plot. Step by step, brick by brick, that dream grew into the rescue centre it is today. Thanks to your incredible support, we have built new kennels, a safe area for puppies, large play areas, shaded spaces, a fully renovated intake area, and so much more.If you visit our rescue today, it is almost unrecognisable compared to what it looked like nine years ago. Together, we can be incredibly proud of what we have achieved. -
