Virginia Labat of Passion Levriers is spending this week in Spain with friends. This is her report on the situation there.
I am in SPAIN, but no time to write a lot now so I will do it when back to France.
It is very hard, a lot of dogs everywhere and no place for them in the shelters so we feed them by night by the roads where they live.
We try to catch the puppies but the mothers always change the place where she keeps them so we wait in the rain. I cry a lot but my friends help me a lot too.
We saw a podenco puppy last night on the road and we tried to catch him. It was 23h00 so we could not find him, he escaped from us.
In my friend’s house there are 16 dogs. We clean 3 times per day and treat wounds and give food and love but 16 dogs at home – it is incredible.
We need help from everywhere.
I am lucky to live among Spanish volunteers so I am always with them and as I speak Spanish I can understand everything.
Everybody s very nice with me and when I cry they givde me much love.
As I am writing to you Dami, a galga, has her head on my knees and she is sleeping and she is relaxed with me. I am very lucky because the dogs are never frightened of me. Spanish people are very surprised. Even the most frightened dog comes to see me even if he comes slowly with a lot of fear.
Will write more soon
Virginia
