This is a message from a contact in the USA, but this man could equally make enquiries of any of the UK or European rescue associations.
I’m posting to alert those of you who work in adoption groups to beware of an inquiry from a man in Canada who is trying to adopt a greyhound for potentially racing in India. I answer emails for Greyhound Friends here in MA, and I’ve received several emails from this person wanting to adopt from us.
In the first email he said he wanted to buy one of our greyhounds and bring him to India to race. He wanted all the dogs history and bloodlines at the time of purchase. When I responded that we would not do this, I got another email from him saying he wanted to adopt a greyhound as a pet and just bring it to India to show his family and friends, and that he’d return the greyhound to us in 2010. Again, I told him we would not do this.
He’s not taking no as an answer so I’m worried he’ll try to contact other groups and maybe not mention India next time.
Anyone who would like any additional information is free to email me at pat@greyhound.org
