Long Term Residents of Scooby need Forever Homes

LailaThe plight of the galgos continues – the Spanish refuges and associations are overwhelmed with abandoned dogs. Here are some long-time residents with Scooby Medina, desperately needing homes, to make way for new incomers. Meet Laila who urgently needs to leave the shelter.

Laila – female (Urgent)
You can see that she has had way too many puppies. She is timid and the last I heard she is also getting skinny because she is not confident enough to eat with other dogs around. So, if I was to pick an urgent case to leave the shelter now, it would be her.

Eva describes some of the others. Check out the Scooby Medina website for more information.

Hello everyone,

It is that time again for me to remind you of some very special dogs on the adoption page that have been at Scooby for a long time.

****REMEMBER**** if they have “trauma” or they don’t have *** stars for getting along with male and female dogs, this could have changed because this was the assessment of the dog when they arrived. There is a very good chance that the dog is better now.

We are working updating the profiles for all the dogs, but I am sure you can imagine that this is a lot of work and will take some time. So in the mean time, please look at these dogs and let me know if you are interested in more info and I will get that updated profile as soon as possible.

Starting with the galgos:

ADRIEL – male
This black beauty arrived at Scooby in November 2007 from the hell that was in Seville.

He has been at the shelter for over a year now and it’s time for hi to go home. You can see that she is social with dogs, but he was marked with two stars for trauma… I would have trauma too if I was rescued from that place in Seville. But we all know that with love and patience, these dogs can adjust and live normal lives, just like the dogs that we have in our homes now.

CAMINO – female
Another Seville dog! But I can tell you with certainty that this dog is still fearful and timid of people. Many people might think that this dog is probably happy at the shelter because she doesn’t have to deal with people.

But it’s for this reason that Camino needs a home. She deserves to know that people can be good and that there is a good life waiting for her to live. She is great with the other dogs in her paddock. View the video on her profile to see how she is. I took this video in September 2008.

Campanero – male
This boy is soooo sweet! When I was at Scooby he would be timid at first and would only watch me from a far, but then as I would start cleaning the paddock, he would sit close by and just watch me. He was so quiet and I never heard him bark. He would just sit and watch.

When I would turn my back, he would come close trying to smell me and see me up close. He has such a sweet face and is great with the other dogs. Please don’t let the * star for trauma fool you because, again, this was given to him when he arrived at the shelter which was on January 12, 2008. So who is going to be the special person to adopt him on his anniversary of being at the shelter for one year? Who will give him the greatest gift?

Cicatriz – male
Okay, so he is not a pure galgo. But who cares? He’s probably 95 % galgo and 5% dog! He has *** stars for everything good and he has a video that shows how sweet he really is. He arrived on August 10, 2007.

And although he looks like he is enjoying life with Kiros and Danonino in his paddock, I know he would love to be living with his special family! Make sure you click on his photo on his profile to see his other photos. Once you do, I am sure that you will fall in love with his beautiful face.

Claris – female
Yet another Seville dog. Rescuing these dogs from Seville was only half the promise we made to them. The other half is finding them a forever home. And it’s been over a year now, so I feel that they are starting to think we lied to them 🙂

Claris is black and beautiful and already middle age. At 7 years old, this lady deserves to be pampered and loved. Her bones will get old soon and I am sure that she will prefer a warm bed to sharing a basket with a dog at the shelter.

Dona – female
It doesn’t help that the photos of her are not very flattering, but that’s not her fault. We are working on getting some new ones.

Dona is still timid and fearful of people. She is quiet and polite but doesn’t want you to catch her… when you finally do, she is very submissive. I know there are people out there that can do their magic on her to make her a happy and confident dog. Anyone? She is a Seville dog… need I say more.

Erol – male
This boy is beautiful. His colour is just as nice as he is. And guess what? He’s from Seville! There is a chance that he could be going to the US in February, but if that doesn’t work out, then I will continue to send you emails about him.

Furia – female
Cat tested and passed. Who wants her?

Hada – female
No trauma and two stars for everything else. We can do a cat test no problem. Hada arrived on Dec 20, 2007. Let’s not make her spend another Christmas at the shelter. She has “HADA” enough! Get it? 🙂

Heidra & Jimena – females
Another two females from Seville. They have the same profile. Timid and not very social. But again, we know that once they are in the right environment, they will come out of their shell and learn to enjoy life. Perhaps they would be good together?!

Kiros – male
He would be the star of the movie, “Galgo can jump!” He can jump over the wall from paddock 6 to 5! So needless to say he needs to live in a very rural environment, with a very high fence if possible because if he jump and there was a busy street, it would not be a good ending.

Or he could live with a family who will walk him on a leash and not leave him alone unattended when being outside. I have seen it with my own eyes how high he can jump – it’s amazing. He lives with Danonino and Cicatriz and the three of them together are quite nice. But Kiros has been at the shelter September 19, 2007. We can’t forget about him. he is a perfect dog and so nice and social. View his video on his profile!

Please give these dogs a chance.

Eva at Scooby Medina.
