Over a year in a refuge – help Scooby Medina find homes for these galgos

Paz-galgoEva from Scooby Medina has sent a second list of galgos who have been in the refuge for over a year. Many of them were part of over 200 taken in a rescue in Seville in November 2007. They desperately need foster and adoption homes.

If any of you can take any of these dogs, either through your own association to refuges away from Spain, or offer foster or adoption homes, please get in touch with Scooby as a matter of priority.

Here’s one sweet girl. Paz, pictured, female
Paz arrived on February 6, 2008. She is a little beauty and has no problems. Being at the shelter for almost a year now, she would benefit from a home environment.

****REMEMBER**** if they have “trauma” or they don’t have *** stars for getting along with male and female dogs, this could have changed because this was the assessment of the dog when they arrived.

There is a very good chance that the dog is better now. We are working updating the profiles for all the dogs, but I am sure you can imagine that this is a lot of work and will take some time. So in the mean time, please look at these dogs and let me know if you are interested in more info and I will get that updated profile as soon as possible.

Licanor – male
Another sweet boy that came from the Seville rescue in November 2007. He is not afraid of you when you walk into the paddock, but more curious. His two stars for trauma are because he is still unsure with humans, but he is not timid. He just doens’t understand people yet and has a good reason for this since he has never experienced us in a loving manner before.

As he got to know me, he would be getting closer and closer to try to get more information from me – smelling me and looking at me. As you can see by the his photos, (click on his profile photo to see more) he was calm enough so I could photograph him and show that he is quite handsome. He is actually quite small for a boy, but he is not timid with the other dogs at all.

Ligero – male
Arrived on January 12, 2008. A very nice sweet male. He was living with a paddock full of boys, including Licanor and they all got a long really nicely. The photos of Ligero aren’t that great but you can see that he is calm from the way he is sitting. He is not timid in the sense that he is scared of people and avoids them, he just doesn’t know what to make of us. He is curious and will sit behind you and try to get close but then will move away when you make eye contact. He does this with people he doesn’t know, but once he knows that you are not going to harm him he is very nice.

Malacara – male (8 Years old)
This boy is so sweet and quiet.
We estimate that he was born in 2001. So that means that he is 8 years old now. He arrived at Scooby on April 25, 2008 . He sits quietly and watches what the others are doing. He didn’t want to approach me when I entered the paddock, but he didn’t run away either.

He was just looked so calm and confident sitting and watching what was going on around him. He is very nice with the other dogs. In his photos, you can see that he has a long tail, but since then he has lost it and his tail is now short like a doberman. It doesn’t matter because he is still beautiful. Who will give this handsome boy a good life for his retirement?

Neo – male
Neo is still timid. He arrived from Sevilla and obviously this traumatized him greatly. In order for him to get over this trauma he needs a stable loving environment. The shelter is a great place, but there is constant change in the paddocks and for Neo, he has had enough change. We know that these timid dogs are able to adjust.

We are grateful to those families that have taken the hard to place timid dogs. Please, if you have experience and room in your home, open your heart to Neo.

Paz – female
Paz arrived on February 6, 2008. She is a little beauty and has no problems. Being at the shelter for almost a year now, she would benefit from a home environment.

Rafna – female, Rita – female
Both of these sweet girls arrived at he shelter in November 2007 from Seville. They have been too long. We are going to provide you with a full profile update on them and I will send you the info once I get it.

Vitorio – male
Arrived February 23, 2008 and he looks pitiful in his photos. We are working on a profile update for him and also some new photos.
Stay tuned.

Thanks everyone!

Eva
