A message via Charl, a plea for help for the galgos struggling in the perrera at Mairena del Aljarafe, in Sevilla.
‘So.. yet again the galgos are being disregarded en masse, firstly by their hunters, secondly at the public shelters they land into which practise euthanasia. I am not saying I am against or for this, what i am saying is, they are rarely given the opportunity to even be offered as pets, .. so sent on in order to be put down. Living in squalor while awaiting their number.
Mairena del Aljarafe is a town of Sevilla, there has been a plea made for 20 – 25 galgos kept in a society there, and from there they are taken on Tuesdays and Thursdays to be sacrificed. In the early pictures the water is green and the food was placed inbetween the faeces and urine, just thrown on the floor. Having been noted that someone has been taking photographs, the water is cleaner, but the points are still the same.
It’s not just here, it’s in hundreds of Spanish towns – but here is where the plea is at the moment. If you have a place which can offer a galgo a home, one it has probably never known, the rewards are tremendous. Theres no love like a galgo’s love. Email if you can help.
