Greyhound Racing in the Philippines – Join the Debate

With reference to my call for everyone to protest about proposed greyhound racing in the Philippines, I have today received a curt message from Professor Elizabeth Snyman.

‘I do not like this message. Throughout our research project we were as
objective as possible and furthermore none of us have any ties with
either animal welfare or the racing industry. I therefore ask you not to
sent out your own subjective views’.

I have replied as follows:

Madam

Your email as above has been received, your comments noted and I respond as follows.

How long did your research take.
What form did it take.

Did you visit greyhound racetracks and owners of such tracks.
Did you visit racing greyhound owners and trainers.
Did you do ‘spot’ visits to the above, or were they pre-arranged visits.
In which countries did you visit the above, to carry out your research.

Did you visit greyhound rescue centres and the volunteers who ‘pick up the pieces’.
Did you visit owners of rescued greyhounds?

Did you visit the following website Greyhounds in Need and read about the greyhounds at the Barcelona track ? http://www.greyhoundsinneed.co.uk/ReferenceFrame.htm
Note the quote at the end ‘there are none so blind as those who will not see’. Anne Finch.

Did you also consult the Donohue Report into the Greyhound Racing Industry in the UK. http://www.greyhoundsinneed.co.uk/ReferenceFrame.htm

You should also read this article in respect of racetracks in Barcelona, Mallorca and Valencia. http://www.greyhoundsinneed.f9.co.uk/spainbad.htm

And this one http://www.greyhoundaction.org.uk/trackBarcaClosed.htm

And yet another article about greyhound racing in Italy and South Africa http://www.greyhoundaction.org.uk/newsW02.htm

In my opinion, and I am entitled to voice my opinion in just the same way as yourself, the ‘research and report’ carried out by your team is seriously flawed.

I close using a famous quotation from ‘Hamlet’ by William Shakespeare. ‘The lady doth protest too much, methinks’.
