Paul & April Carrier run the Alpha Dog School in Rota, Cadiz. As well as taking bording dogs, and galgos for rehabilitation, they also began a new area of business earlier this year.
April explains.
‘Paul is training young suitable dogs as Personal Protection Dogs for sale to the more wealthy individuals who are now become victims of serious crime and intimidation.
For example, an elderly couple we know who live in the Marbella area, will not leave their house without their Rotweiler. They have been threatened several times in their local area by gangs of immigrants, and the woman had her handbag violently snatched. They are now too scared to go out without their dog.
Another elderly couple here in Rota were burgled while they were asleep, and when the man woke up and went to investigate he wass stabbed twice by the burglar with a pair of scissors. There are many other stories of people who own nice properties who are becoming victims of violent crime.
Owning a Protection Dog would prevent many of these people from becoming victims.
Just to reassure you, these dogs are not trained to be uncontrollably aggressive. They have extensive obedience training and can be easily handled by their owners. They are not a danger to the public, and will only defend their owners if threatened by violent behaviour. Normally, just the presence of the dog is enough to deter criminals. In addition, Mic Martin of Dog Borstal is working with us in this business, which is very exciting for us.
We have a new website if you’d like to take a look: www.alphak9protection.com
Paul and April are also aware of how animal charities and refuges are suffering during the credit crisis and recession, and have a special offer on for associations with galgos needing care and/or rehabilitation for rehoming abroad.
