With the exodus of Brits leaving Spain to return to the UK, it means that many shelters are now losing their volunteers, they have fewer fundraising events organised (Brits are really good at those) and fewer people supporting the events. There are also more dogs being taken to the shelters as the Brits can’t take dogs into rented accommodation in the UK.
