2 1/2 metres of water & mud – help Alberto near Cordoba, his refuge and his dogs

Andujar refuge alberto mud 03 2010 300 This is the latest news from Alberto at his refuge on the outskirts of Cordoba. The Guadalquivir river is in torrent, it has rained for 8 days again non-stop; the refuge is under 2 1/2 metres of water. He has 30 dogs in his refuge; the first ones he took out were the puppies and small dogs to another shelter 50 kilometres away. Then, when he went back for his other dogs, the water was up to his knees. He has saved the other dogs, but not the bedding, dog food etc. and has lost electricity power.

The biggest problem now is to get a lorry which will remove all the mud deposited around the shelter. He is desperate for monetary aid and manpower – even his mother has lent some money to help. He built this shelter on his own, and he is totally on his own in looking after the dogs and doing all the work.

Andujar refuge inside shelter 03 2010 250 Today he has his dogs in 2 garages, and they are afraid. There is so much work to do to clear the refuge and return it to a state where he can take his dogs back. It will take months of work.

And he has two more abandoned galgos arriving, 2 females and 2 males.

If anyone can donate towards the cost of cleaning up and re-equipping his refuge, please donate via PayPal on L’Europe des Levriers. Please also contact them if you can offer your labour to help him.
