Would that all municipal councils would do this.
In Javea – Xàbia Town Hall and Apasa cooperate on the design and management of the new municipal dog kennels.
The future facility will not decrease the capacity for the number of dogs nor will any dogs be put down.
Xàbia Town Hall and the animal protection organisation Apasa have reached an agreement to jointly design the future municipal dog pound to be installed in the Ramblars area, away from local housing, providing the best sanitary conditions and services. Both the mayor, José Chulvi, and the president of Apasa, Mandy Conway, have positively praised this new period of cooperation.
The new space for the pound – subject by law to a limitation on the number of dogs that can stay each time – will consist of an area of management by Apasa where stray animals will be cared for without having to put down any dogs. The areas will be maintained, in accordance with the current agreement with both municipal funds and the money collected by the protective association through its partners and charitable activities.
The change of location from the current centre to the Ramblars will provide a more consistent service for the needs of the animals; respecting health regulations, safety and accommodation, and, at the same time, not be a nuisance to the residents of the surrounding neighbourhoods. Once this issue is overcome, the pound may develop its important function normally and without interfering with other uses.
