When I joined dozens of other galgo and podencos rescue associations and adoptants themselves back in 2021 when we all marched from the European Union office in Strasbourg round the city publicising the plight of the dogs, I met up with some of the people of GalgoPod Andco. Here is a lovely galga with them looking for a forever home. Just look at those ears!!
‘Ladybug is looking for a forever home. 6 years old. She arrived at the Vila Real kennel in Portugal in November 2020 with her sister Leonor, already adopted. They lived in an old car in a field and in very bad condition. She’s now at my foster home in Spain until I find a family.
Ladybug is skittish at first but gains confidence at home in a couple of days, not a dog especially scared, somewhat insecure at times outside. At home she is very affectionate, confident and lives very well with other dogs. With kids can go very playful too.
On the street she walks very well and very calm, but always on a leash. Mariquiña is a dog love and finally deserves a home. She’s ready to travel now.
