The galgueros fight back against the rescue associations which go into schools discouraging hunting.

The Extreme Hunting Federation has decided to bring its PROADES program ‘Hunting and Nature’ to 27 schools in the community, which has generated concerns about the education being given to young people.

Although the program includes informative talks and outdoor activities, its approach to hunting and hunting can be problematic as it promotes an activity that many consider incompatible with wildlife conservation and respect for wildlife.
Since its inception in 2017, this program has been gaining ground in schools, but it’s critical to question whether it truly brings educational and environmental value, or if, on the contrary, normalizes practices that can be detrimental to the ecosystem.

The first part of the program, ‘Know My Sport’, includes talks about wildlife species and environmental education, but it’s worrying that environmental education is linked to hunting.

The second phase, which will be held on May 22 in Alange, includes activities such as gymkhanas and workshops covering meat-making techniques and footprint recognition, as well as a cooking workshop offering game meat. This raises serious questions about the message being sent to students about the relationship between humans and nature. Instead of encouraging hunting, it would be more beneficial to promote conservation and respect for wildlife by educating young people about the importance of protecting our natural environment.
