Portugal Dog Rescue – Teresa needs your help
Regular readers will have followed the stories of Estrela, Foguete, Duke and Esperanza – the galgo family rescued from an abusive alcoholic galguero. Teresa and her family have given their all – literally – to help the dogs in the very poor area of Portugal where they live. This year they personally have suffered as no one should – and now Teresa’s daughter is appealing for help as her mother is ill from the strain of it all. Please help her get back on her feet and continue helping the animals – who would suffer without them. Please share.

Galga Zoe, left for dead – now in her forever home
Tribute to Zoe – by Charlotte del Rio
Dear Sr.Galguero
I was sitting here with my thoughts, looking back over time.
Just a mere girl I was at your feet, the foot that booted me regularly. I wondered when the day would be, when I’d be free from the shame I felt.I wandered by your side Sr.Galguero as a good galga should and on many occasion I know you thought you broke me. You almost did!
At just a year old I’d been born into hell, I knew nothing more than the life I led. Shamed, doomed, and hollow. Fear striking me at every move. How I lived on my nerves .. Oh how I did.

Galgos Ethique Europe – the latest news on their work
Galgos Ethique Europe was formed in 2009. Those of you who have read my book will know I mention them. 4 years have now passed and I was recently in contact with Joelle for an update on their work. Here’s what she writes.
‘In 2009 Galgos-Ethique-Europe (GEE) was formed to create a collective mouvement for the protection of galgos, podencos and Ibizan hounds found in Spain and adopted in Europe. They issued an ethical chart aimed at creating a strong partnership between people involved in their rescue, having the same ethics and together move towards a collective effort to improve the law at the european level.
