Scooby Valcabado, Zamora – good news for the abandoned animals
There is no stopping Scooby, Fermin and his team. On 18th May 2013 they will open their new centre La Protectora de Animales Scooby in Valcabado. Video here, scroll down the page and click on arrow.
They desperately need help in the way of blankets, medicines and financial aid, veterinary help, volunteering.
If you live in the area, you are invited on Saturday 18th May at 5pm to the opening party.

Prodeanse, Seville – Galgo Carr needs your help
Message from Loli Dalo in Seville. Prodeanse is one of the small refuges I visited last September. They are in an area which is very bad for animal maltreatment.
‘As you can see Prodenase never stops. In this state we have picked up this poor galgo, who we have named Carr, malnourished, with little hair on his poor battered body and lost. This is what the damned hunters do to these poor hounds. Al they want is to be treated like any other animal, but for these faceless and nameless galgueros and gitanos the poor dogs are just throwaways.

Pig-sticking – reintroduced into Spain
Yet another sick form of hunting recently re-introduced into the Spanish way of life! I am sure these people are in the minority, that the majority of Spanish people would be pleased to see the end of barbaric forms of animal torture, such as this one – as bad as bull fighting!

Galgo Zafiro – waiting at Pepis Refuge, Seville, for a forever home
Jane Brian of Pepis Refuge, near Seville, tells the story of this beautiful galgo.
‘A galgero came to the refuge about a month ago asking, can we take a Galgo. At the time we told him we were full, he explained he wanted his Galgo to come here to Pepis. We asked him if he could wait a month, then it may be possible. He agreed then left.
Almost to the day he turned up at 9pm last night, with Zafiro. A beautiful five year old boy. He took Zafiro out of the car without a leash on him, and Zafiro stood next to his side,looking up at him, tail wagging and looking at him with such loyalty. I must admit, the galgero himself looked sad to leave him, but leave him, he did. He told me has had him from a puppy and asked would he get a good home.

Please sign – Petition to the local councils in Cadiz province
I know – another petition. But please sign and share widely. Bombarding the authorities in Spain keeps up the pressure on them and reminds them that the rest of the world will not go away, will not stop criticising them for not taking action against animal cruelty and abandonment. We have to keep protesting in whatever way we can. This is what the petition is about.
