Jane Brian of Pepis Refuge, near Seville, tells the story of this beautiful galgo.
‘A galgero came to the refuge about a month ago asking, can we take a Galgo. At the time we told him we were full, he explained he wanted his Galgo to come here to Pepis. We asked him if he could wait a month, then it may be possible. He agreed then left.
Almost to the day he turned up at 9pm last night, with Zafiro. A beautiful five year old boy. He took Zafiro out of the car without a leash on him, and Zafiro stood next to his side, looking up at him, tail wagging and looking at him with such loyalty. I must admit, the galgero himself looked sad to leave him, but leave him, he did. He told me has had him from a puppy and asked would he get a good home.
We explained, when we home a dog, we ask for photos of them in their new home. With that he patted Zafiro and stroked him, then shook my hand, said thank you, and left.
This five year old Grey Galgo, is a beauty, so loving and gentle. HOW DO THEY DO IT, when you could see the galgero cared for him. I suppose it’s a fantastic start that he even waited for us to take him, at least he did care enough for Zafiro to do that, and we thank him for that.
Now we have a very special Galgo to home. Who will be the lucky person….

well i hope he gets his forever home what he soooo deserves what a surprize a galguero looking after his galgo like that so the galgos and galgas are getting looked after who live with this hunter nice one
I still believe that when taking on an animal it should be for life but at least this galguero didn’t hurt Zafiro, at least he tried to get him to somewhere safe. However, then Pepi’s have all the cost and responsibility for Zafiro as well as their other 70 dogs! Zafiro sounds wonderful, beautiful boy, I hope he gets a home soon. Pepi’s are fantastic.
