PACMA on the draft change to the Penal Code – no good for hunting dogs
‘
‘As you may know, in recent months there has been a considerable stir around possible changes in the Penal Code that would affect the penalties for animal abuse. The reforms that are projected in its draft are very far from meeting the expectations of animal activists; not even with those of current social feeling. The abusers will continue without stepping on jail.
Killing and mistreating animals will remain a game.
The maximum sentence for assault on an animal resulting in death is 24 months; just the minimum to avoid going to prison. The potential prison saturation could lead the judges to decide to change the sentence for a fine, whose bureaucratic process has also been streamlined. Many may become insolvent.

Spain is still in the dark ages – no help for the hunting dogs – Government lies!
Yeah!! The Government approves the processing of the Animal Welfare Law that includes hunting and working dogs, which will be treated like any other dog. Moreover, this law, approved a week ago in the Council of Ministers, will not only protect pets but all vertebrates as a whole. Wow!! Among other things, we celebrate that: Dog owners will have to become breeders and register as such if they want to breed animals. Whoever has five specimens must be registered as a zoological nucleus. Working dogs will have to meet conditions from the point of view of occupational risk prevention; they will not carry out professional activities until they are 18 months of age. All dogs must be registered as such in the Registry of Companion Animals. Hunting dogs that are kept or have access to the exterior of the houses and may have uncontrolled contact with others must be sterilized. As for giving away or selling a hunting dog to people not registered in the Breeders’ Registry, the dog must be spayed or with the commitment of its sterilization.
ONLY this is the real truth!

Hunting has ended in Spain for this season – abandoned hounds everywhere, shelters overrun
‘To you hunters that love your animals so much. Can you all really sleep peacefully?? They are still waiting for you, in the same place as you abandoned them, they are passing cold, hungry and desperate for not finding the miserable one who abandoned them. I just wish you suffer in life all the suffering you are going through them multiplied by ten, karma exists and you will pay for it.
This is what happens when hunting work tools don’t work, they are abandoned, mistreated, killed.’
This weblink takes you to the story of the rescue of 119 dogs from a finca in Torrelaguna. Warning, upsetting pictures.

Greyhound transport South African style!!
From Bianca Castelman Peens on facebook.‘This is a taxi with a trailer full of Greyhounds, 34 in a small open trailer on their way to race them. I got onto their trailer and held their trailer and taxi hostage while phoning Benoni SPCA and my amazing friend Martine Hampson who arrived within minutes. Drove on the trailer with them with people behind and in front of them to make sure they didn’t get away. When animal lovers stand together! All of them are now safe and being assessed by the vet and a case opened. To all the men who passed while I was standing alone between 10 men to the ladies who all stopped to help these babies, THANK YOU!!
PLEASE people don’t just turn a blind eye to shit like this, do something!
THANK YOU BENONI SPCA, YOU GUYS WERE AMAZING. Martine my friend, THANK YOU

Protectora Scooby – galgo with a damaged nose
‘Look at his nose. It’s one of the galguitos rescued in Andalusia and we don’t know what could have happened to him. We hope it was a misfortune accident and not that the man’s hand is behind.
His name is Copernico and his nose will stay like this forever, but we don’t think this is an impediment for this handsome galguito to quickly find a family that will take care of him and love him as he deserves.
If you want to share your life with Copernico or need more information, email adopciones@scoobymedina.org
If you can’t adopt, but you want to help us continue saving lives, you can do it in the following ways:
