  • Galgo’s Rescue Almeria – the galgos keep coming!

    GRA Machu 400 23 2 2021
Machu In just 2 days Galgo’s Rescue Almeria collected all these unwanted galgos…thrown out by the galgueros…all young with many years ahead of them to live in happy forever homes. Contact Sandy Galgoslover is you would like to adopt one. And Sandy and John desperately need the funds to pay for all the blood tests and passports.

    Sandy tells the story.

22/2/2021 – Today we collected these 3 Galgos at Maskota Clinica Veterinaria in Fuente Alamo. All 3 have already been dewormed and treated against fleas and ticks. Also a blood test has been done and all 3 are free of the Mediterranean diseases.
Many thanks FMA to negotiate with the galgueros to hand them over. We can now start to make them ready for a new and better life.

23/2/2021 – GRA was asked to help 3 galgos from Badajoz, 3 became 5 and finally 6 arrived.
We already received a wonderful donation from Un Levriero per la Vita to cover part of the transport costs.
We still need your help to cover the rest of the transport as also to cover their medical care ( chip / passport/ vaccinations / bloodtest / neutering /……)

The same day these 2 new arrivals, two sisters Ariana & Victoria. They were handed over by a galguero from Jerez de la Frontera.
We want to thank Kim for negotiating and getting them to safety.
Next week they will get a complete checkup, blood tests, vaccinations, …….

Please, you can support one of these galgos to cover medical costs:

  • Galgo Faru – rescued from the galguero and now getting medication.

    GRA Faru 1 20 1 2021
From Sandy Galgoslover at Galgo’s Rescue Almeria

‘After negotiating for months, this gorgeous soul Faru finally came in our care the first of December. Thanks Tracey for finally convincing the hunter to let him go. His skin and coat were in a very poorly condition, bald spots everywhere, scars…as if Faru hadn’t suffered enough, he was also Leish positive and urgently needed the right treatment.

Two months after being brought to safety we see a total different dog.

In the meantime Faru has finished his treatment with milteforan and is under observation with the usual medication and special diet food to improve kidney function.’

  • Galga Denia – 5 years waiting for a forever home

    Denia 1 400
Look at me. Tell me what you see…

I’m just a dog half-breed who made it to the shelter after taking a lot of beating. Hence my fear, my tremors and wanting to hide in the furthest corner when an unknown human appears.

Half-breed? What a curious word. An amalgamation of a thousand races that make me a unique being and that in turn turns their looks away when a possible adopter passes before my kennel
    .
Young gal? I’m not…My youth has gone like the wind locked in…

They want me at the Shelter I know. But it’s really hard to spend almost 5 years of your life waking up with the first rays of sunshine living and subsisting in a cold cement kennel.

They say I’m a galga cross…hence my slender and sleek line.
