  • Torrevieja – Animal Protection councillor appointed – every town should have one!

    Torrevieja Perrera is my local dog pound and has been criticised along with many perreras in Spain but Torrevieja I have been saying is one of the better ones not perfect in any way but better than most.

    We have a new councillor of Animal Protection who is determined to change the perrera for the better ,It will now be known as The Alberque Municipal and before the vet was never to be seen apart from microchipping and then she would turn up at her own time as I well know hanging about to get a podenco chipped from there.

    Good news result from this petition. We need something similar for all the galgueros who maltreat/torture their hunting dogs!

    No words to describe how this poor innocent soul must have suffered….curses on the hunter who abandoned him, the people who hit him with their vehicles, the people who drove by and did not stop to help him. RIP sweet soul.

  • Australia’s greyhound industry exposed!

    Australia greyhound racing stats 250Terrible news from Australia about their greyhound industry – which a couple of years back was denied by in comments by Australian greyhounds trainers on this blog!

    Greyhounds Australasia has admitted that up to 17,000 healthy dogs and puppies are killed every year because of greyhound racing — and that the industry would be shut down if these secret figures ever became public (www.AnimalsAus.org/tt7).

    Its own board called the deaths of these dogs “indefensible”. If you agree, speak up.

    And for the figure of 96% of greyhounds dying before they are 4 years old – read the same figure for the hundreds of thousands of galgos to which a similar percentage applies!

    These people just don’t value life in any form.

  • Terrible News! Greyhound Racing in Romania

    TERRIBLE NEWS! We all know what a terrible time dogs in Romania have – the maltreatment, abandonment and merciless killing. So guess where the greyhounds are going to come from who will be use brutally on this track! Ireland and the UK of course!

    It could also be that the galgueros with racing galgos will also send their unwanted hounds there…we already know that there are some hunting galgos there.
