More galgos handed in to Pepis Dog Refuge by their hunter. Jane and Alan didn’t have room for them, so the hunter waited until they did – and it will get worse as the hunting season goes on. Please help feed the galgos and dozens of other hounds at Pepis, they rely solely on your donations. Now Christmas is coming, please use easyfundraising to buy your Xmas pressies, loads of leading UK stores supporting them. Join by clicking on this link.
There are also some lovely quality Christmas cards on sale raising funds for Pepis. Buy yours here.
You can also help by joining the Teaming group for as little as 1 euro/month…more if you can …every euros is vitally needed to help feed the dozens of hounds at Pepis.

Support Project Galgos Argentina, especially on 2nd November 2016
Wednesday 2nd November could be a historic date for greyhounds and galgos in Argentina, where the Chamber of Deputees will be voting for a definitive end to greyhound racing.
The law proposal to ban racing has been promoted by Senator Magdalena Odarda, with the support of Projecto Galgo Argentina, and it has been approved by the Senate and two Parliamentary commissions, the General Legislative Commission and the Penal Commission.
If you are on facebook, then join StopGalgueros and join in this effort. Let’s show the Argentinian Deputees that an immense multitude of people, organisations and groups expect them to make the kind of progressive choice which will make their country proud, and that will make Argentina a trailblazer in terms of compassion and respect for greyhounds and galgos, dogs that in countries which consider themselves civilised are treated ruthlessly and without humanity.
The photos must be published by midday on Tuesday 1st November.
All the photos will be sent to the Argentinian Deputees.
The more we are, the stronger our message will be!If you are not on facebook, then you can sign and share this petition.
PetLevrieri of Italy also support Project Galgo Argentina.

Bracken – A Galgo’s Story
I’ve been involved in galgo and podenco rescue and rehoming since 2007 when the plight of the galgos and podencos was little known outside of Spain and the Canary Islands, long before the days of facebook. Vie my blogs Galgo News and Podenco Post I’m proud to have helped set two amazing young English women on the path to becoming two of the best known rescue and rehoming associations through advertising for homing dogs they had rescued before they formed their associations. I’ve fostered many galgos and podencos, indeed I’m a failed foster mother too as 2 of my galgos are in my home forever.
This video tells the story of one of my ‘failed’ fosters. It’s an old video, as Brac’s story has moved on. Some months after we took him to his ‘forever’ home in the UK, sadly through no fault of either Bracken nor his adoptant, we received an email from them to say that because of serious illnes, they had to return their newly adopted galgo and also a tripod greyhound they had adopted. As soon as my husband read that, he booked a ferry across the Channel, stayed overnight with a very good friend, drove up to meet with Bracken and bring him back to our home in France. He’d really wanted to keep Bracken himself so although sad for the couple who were heartbroken to say goodbye to him, he was pleased to welcome Bracken back into our canine fold.

Greyhounds around the Globe Conference – sign the petition
From Christine Dorchak, President of Grey2K USA
I have just returned from the biggest weekend ever for greyhounds! Our Greyhounds Around the Globe conference in Florida brought together advocates from ten countries, all of whom are now committed to working together to help end commercial dog racing in the Sunshine State and worldwide.
Our Delray Beach conference began with the release of our new video by ABC News. We have now exposed the violent collisions, injuries and deaths that greyhounds suffer in Florida each month, particularly at the Palm Beach Kennel Club. In fact, according to state records, a dog dies every three days at a local racetrack! Working together, we mean to change this.
The Greyhounds Around the Globe conferees have now taken our first joint action and on Saturday, we issued a group letter to the leaders of the eight countries with commercial dog racing. Now it’s your turn to help.

Pepi’s Xmas Auction – fabulous range of items for Xmas gifts
For those of you who are on facebook or able to see facebook pages, Jan, Sam, Nina and I are running an Xmas auction – this is the link to the album.
There is still an horrendous 5,300 euros vet bill to pay off for Pepi’s refuge and this is the reason we are organising this auction. Please join in if you can, share with your friends.
Pepi’s Dog Refuge, Pedrera, Seville, has an outstanding vet bill of 5,300 euros, accumulated since October 2014. How on earth did they run up such an amount, you ask. Quite simply a decrease in donations – on which Pepi’s survives – and a large increase in sick and injured dogs, especially the parvo virus outbreak in all the puppies over several months.
