  • How long is too long to leave a dog alone?

Dogs are pack animals, they prefer company, whether it is another dog, cat or human.  Many suffer from separation anxiety.  We have always had more than one dog, although now we are down to just one and take her with us most places we go.

So how long should a dog reasonably be expected to be left alone.

  • URGENT APPEAL for donations for Scalibor collars

Animal lovers the summer months are approaching and it’s very important to protect dogs from the sandfly that causes Leishmaniosis. Every year, unfortunately, too many dogs adopted from Spain die abroad due to ignorance, poor information, wrong diagnosis, not the right treatment… So preventing infection with the Leishmania parasite is very important. Contrary to what is often said, Leishmaniosis cannot be cured, in other words your dog will have it for the rest of his or her life. Fortunately, with proper treatment and medication, the infection can be kept under control. Regular blood tests are also recommended, that way your four-legged friend can also grow old like other dogs. We protect dogs during and before the summer months with a collar combined with a pippet. A vaccination is also possible, it’s quite expensive and studies have currently not been able to show whether this vaccination gives sufficient security. (more…)

Please be assured that there are ‘NO’ bad images in this film and all the dogs featured are ‘safe’ and waiting to be adopted. I think you’ll agree that the soundtrack is both beautiful and appropriate and the end message fitting.

  • Burgos perrera, white galgo on death row – Seville, Mama galga and 8 puppies, anyone help?

Burgos perrera white galgo 04 2011 250 In Spanish history, the White Galgo was revered – it was second in importance only to the birth of a son. There was even a Royal Medal awarded to the white galgo. How they have fallen. This white beauty is in the Burgos perrera, awaiting a painful death. If you have room for him, please contact laura@adoptanos.com
    http://adoptaenburgos.blogspot.com/
or Maribel maribeljerezsos2@gmail.com (and pray for the other dogs with him on death row)

And this tale is all too often told, heartbreakingly sad for all the animals involved.

Please, has anyone a little space for this galguilla for two or three weeks, please avisadnos, together we can change the future. Thank you very much for your attention. Regards. • QuiQue and Risa – have you a special place in your home?

QUIQUE2336 250 We regularly have galgos and podencos to stay overnight at our home in France, en route from Spain to their foster and forever homes. I love them all, but once in a while there is a special one. My husband took to this handsome chap on the rescue last weekend (19/03/2011). This is QuiQue, a magnificent rough-haired galgo, full of life and just craving for his forever home. Sadly we couldn’t even foster him as Floyd, our French lurcher, doesn’t like other large male dogs. QuiQue had been in a refuge for a year, if you can offer him a forever home, contact L’Europe des Levriers.
And don’t forget my foster galga Risa, also looking for her forever home.

  • How many Spanish dogs…………..?

Well, there’s Carmela, then foster galga CR – we’re preparing her Pet Passport for UK entry, if anyone is interested, and then there’s little Podenca Andaluz Bebe.
