Because galgos are not aggressive dogs, unscrupulous people use them as bait for dog fighting. This galguita found a few days ago, is young, full of wounds and has a broken tail.
There currently seems to be some uncertainty as to who actually has the galga,
according to the comments below. Another example of associations not working together – this is why it is difficult to get anywhere with resolving the plight of the galgos.
In 2005/2006 Anne Finch, the then Minister of the Environment and the President of the Federacion Espanola de Galgos met with representatives of Spanish galgo rescue associations, to try and resolve the annual holocaust. A second meeting was arranged and no-one from the associations would attend.
Since then, many more galgo rescue associations have been formed in Spain and Europe. But, as you can read from the comments below, the squabbling still goes on!

this is disgusting there is to much of this kind of thing going on with galgos and greyhounds poor things and their skin rips so easy with it been so thin they will go through a lot of pain

Ok, so I’ve looked on Galgos 112 on Facebook and you are there, but not with this galga. Nowhere can I see mention of this galga. Nor is there mention of her on their website. I’ve checked more than once. I know they do marvellous work, but all this is beginning to stink. It’s because of situations like this, where associations don’t seem to work together, that getting anywhere with resolving the annual galgo holocaust is held up, because so many of you all don’t work together, but against each other. At the end of the day, it’s about the dogs, not people.
Jingru. I see you have now posted about Leica. I had used an Internet translator to read the information in English, and I can’t say I’m very happy with what I read. As so many people are now interested in what happens to Leica, and you write in English, I have asked you to post the information on Save the Galgo, my Facebook page.

Hi Beryl, I post things about Leica since the day I found her, the last friday, on Galgos 112 and SOS Galgos´wall, they helped me with the comments since I had no expierence with this very special race. I am not member of and association, either I recieve money from any organization or particular. I have no relationship with Teresa of Protectora Baeza, so it was pretty strange for me that she appeared as the only contact info of this post, cuz as far as I know, I am the only person who is taking care of the dog till now. So I don´t think this is about the “no-collaboration” between the associations (maybe they do but not in this case)but publishing information without verifying the source.
