List of Galgo Rescue Associations
Very gradual desensitisation…
While the dogs were under anaesthetic the vet vaccinated, microchipped and castrated the galgos. Their convalescence has been very good and they recovered well. Now we have to continue the gentle and steady rehab efforts with them. Of course our approach to the care of these
dogs is supportive with consistent positive reinforcement and very gradual desensitisation to potential triggers. We have kennelled each
one of these galgos with a more confident galgo or galgos, where feasible, to help each one of them build trust and gain confidence. We are pleased that very early signs of progress are starting to show but we still have a long road to travel.
And another sweet brindle dog with Fundacion Benjamin Mehnert
‘We have just welcomed Pipi, this beautiful little dog with sweet big eyes that tell us a sad story for now, we hope they will soon be able to tell us a very different story. Pipi arrived with a cut in her neck, which seems to indicate that she has been tied for a long time. We are going to heal the wound but we hope to heal another deeper wound, being a battered dog. We would like you to find a home soon. Would you give her that opportunity? Thank you’

Polar – in trouble again!
News in from Scooby Medina.
Murcia: More than 16 murdered galgos found in a village in Murcia with signs that they were violently mistreated. The same galgueros there have more galgos, these were seen this week without water or food and with these hot summer temperatures…
This is a place where several hunters keep their dogs in the worst possible conditions and where they horribly kill the ones they no longer want. Murcia is a dreadful place for animals, especially galgos, and there are many such places we don’t know about. Everyone should raise a stink. But the police need to have a chance to act ( it’s the first time they act, in that part of Spain they mostly completely ignore the cruelty cases) or we can make them angry and they can just turn their backs for good.
WARNING. EXTREMELY UPSETTING PHOTOS
112carlotagalgos is a very small family association which concentrates on rescuing and rehabilitating traumatised, sick and injured galgos and podencos. Some months ago we told the story of Rey, abandoned, surviving on virtually nothing, he’d finally collapsed and almost given up the struggle. Some months on, he is doing ok, but a new problem has arisen. Rey needs help! He needs you, we need you! Here’s his story…
Rey came to 112 Carlota Galgos several months ago, found giving up, life had let him down. He lay in the dust with life draining from him,.. down and out. He was seen and rescued. He stayed with his rescuer in Sevilla for a month and along with Polyana joined us at 112 carlota galgos for us to recouperate them and socialise them into family life.
Rey .. seems he has everything against him, he is a black galgo in Spain, he is older and he is a natural hunter. He cannot be scolded for something which has been bred into him, he lived and kept himself alive by hunting. He is a hunter, he will hunt, and yet he will walk by your side like the gentlest galgo you know.
The little galgo puppy with the broken leg has been named Naomi. ADAM have taken her to the vet to have her leg operated on and repaired – the bill is over 600 euros. Please donate, if you can. They are a very new small association in Seville. There is a foster home waiting for her, if she can be transported to Murcia afterwards.

ADAM is a very new association in Seville, concentrating on helping galgos and podencos. They don’t have a shelter, and have sent out this very urgent appeal.
‘We need shelter for ! NOW ! For a galgo puppy of 4 months that the owner wants to hang because it has a broken leg . If we do not remove it, he will kill it! We take care of the operation and all costs of recovery but we have no shelter or place to have it.
