  • Galgos Rescue Almeria – callouts to rescue even on Sundays

    https://www.facebook.com/reel/1177445137849126

    From Galgos Rescue Almeria

Even on Sundays, the rescue centre never rests.  When the phone rings, we often already know what time it is. Once again, a call for help. A small galgo girl… no longer wanted. Discarded. Thanked for her work, then cast aside as if she no longer had any worth.

Our GRA van left immediately, as it so often does, heading to the agreed location. There she stood. Small and unsure. Her eyes said it all: she had had enough. Years of obedience, running until her body could no longer cope, enduring humiliations she never deserved. And yet, when we approached her gently, her tail gave a tiny wag. A spark of trust… despite everything.  For this little girl, a new adventure begins today. (more…)

  • MRW – transporting animals around Spain

MRW article 250 3 2012MRW is an animal transport company in Spain which is used by many refuges and association to move animals from perreras, refuges etc. They are used in preference to private transport companies because they are cheaper.

This is a translation of an article in the Spanish press.

MRW mistreats the animals they transport. Seprona has verified this information.

Arca Madrid says that is a scam to get money. Refugiocan, in Valencia, has also verified it. They say that:

As Protective Association we corroborate what Seprona says.

  • Why Spain does not act against animal abuse.

Ana 3 Charl 250 1 2012This is an appeal for help for vet fees and food for Ana, a podenca Andaluz abandoned, injured and with pups near Valencia. She was eventually rescued, after more than 2 months of gaining her trust, and is now with 112carlotagalgos being repaired, healed and prepared for her forever home. Read her story here. Remember, podencos suffer just as much as galgos at the hands of the galgueros.

  • Dog Fighting – an innocent victim used as bait – Spanish galgos suffer

Galga as dog bait 250 14 1 2012Because galgos are not aggressive dogs, unscrupulous people use them as bait for dog fighting. This galguita found a few days ago, is young, full of wounds and has a broken tail.

There currently seems to be some uncertainty as to who actually has the galga,

  • Valencia & Badajoz perreras – more ‘disposable dogs’ from the Spanish hunters

Ali2 250 1 2012Two more galgos in perreras. ALI is in Valencia perrera, she has had puppies at some time, no chip, no one claimed her. She’s about 3 years old, a bit timid but ok with other dogs, walks on a lead. Contact adopcioneslaperrera@gmail.com
