MRW is an animal transport company in Spain which is used by many refuges and association to move animals from perreras, refuges etc. They are used in preference to private transport companies because they are cheaper.
This is a translation of an article in the Spanish press.
MRW mistreats the animals they transport. Seprona has verified this information.
Arca Madrid says that is a scam to get money. Refugiocan, in Valencia, has also verified it. They say that:
As Protective Association we corroborate what Seprona says.
1º Animals don´t drink or eat during all the time they are travelling, it doesn´t matter how long the journey. It´s confirmed by one of MRW offices we work with normally.
2º Animals travel in nonvented vans. MRW has two kinds of services: pets or urgent. If they travel as urgent they are transported as another box.
3º MRW says that they stop and rest at the platform and that it isn´t true. there they only wait until the troley pics them up at night and take them to their final destinies.diente por la noche. We only have to think about how an animal can be at Seville at 8 of the following day if they rest at night. They travel during the night.
4º Although we havn´t been able to corroborate the following information we are nearly sure that there´s no desinfection in the jails. They transport an animal, retreive the jail and use it for other animal…
5º Normaly MRW offices have 1 small jail and 1 big for all the animals they transport. If you send a bigger animal you have to use your own jail and they get the money of the way back of it.
6º MRW is a commercial name. Different offices are exemptions, each one run in a different way.
7º At last and more important for us: last year we send a dog to Seville. They call us at the following morning to tell us that the dog died at 4 am while it was traveling in Albacete, and if we demonstrate that the cause was asfixia th insurance would pay a compensation.
A vet practised necropsia and asfixia was corroborated. MRW asked for a lot of documents to send to their insurance. They asked for more and more documents and finaly they gave us a promissory note with date 30th of May of 2010 and they forgot it.
We called to the principal office to ask for responsabilities because we didn´t want a promissory note and the compensation was embarrasing when we were talking about a life.
They gave us a new promissory note under threats but it was false and our bank had to threat MRW to get the money.
Last year we sent a puppy to Barcelona. She was healthy when she left us and when she got to her new home was really ill and she died in a week. The vet said that she probably got an infection from the transport jail.
Unfortunately these are the secrets at the back of these companies.
We have acreditative documents about the dog that died and MRW answer’s.

MRW is a franchise, which means there are different ‘owners’ of different branches around Spain, therefore what happens with one branch does not ncessarily happen at another branch.
