  • Letters to write – please join my campaign – write now!

    Letters 200It’s time to run another letter-writing campaign to the Spanish national and provincial governments. Thank you to Dioni del Rio for this translation. Please copy and paste the letter into a word document and post. This link takes you to the list of addresses for the recipients – the national government – Prime Minister, Ministers of Tourism, Environment, Sport, Interior, all in Madrid, Andalucia, Murcia, Extremadura, Castilla la Mancha, Castilla y Leon, Balearics, Canary Islands, Valencia, Basque. The relevant addresses are highlighted in bold. You’ll need 15 copies of the letter if you write to them all. I’m beginning to get replies to my letters, so someone is reading them! Please join in, the galgos and podencos desperately need your help.

  • Happy Rehomings for some lucky galgos and podencos

    Telma dogs at airport 250 1 12 1 2012Galgo Rescue International Network (GRIN) recently raised the funds to fly out a galgo and a podenco to adoptants in the US. The dogs were rescued by Galgos del Sol in Murcia, and accompanied on their flight by Charl del Rio of 112carlotagalgos. Here’s a pic of the dogs arriving at the airport with the adoptants of the podenco. See more

  • Two stunning galgos looking for forever homes – Galgos del Sol in Murcia

    Lobo 2 250 Tina 10 2011Two stunning galgos rescued by Galgos del Sol in Murcia, looking for their forever homes – Lobo and Mario.

    This stunning boy is Lobo, Tina says ‘He was reserved and then his home fell thru so poor sod has been in a kennel now for 4mths or so. He is approx 1yr-18mths, negative for diseases, great with other dogs, great with people, loves to play and as you can see he is sooooo handsome. His name is Lobo (wolf in english) as he has lovely yellow/greeny eyes.

  • Podenca Sandy, badly injured – help needed towards vet fees

    Here’s a very sad story I’ve just posted on Podenco Post. Beautiful podenca bitch Sandy, rescued in July by Galgos del Sol. She’s had a bad accident, it is now known how, and now vet fees are already 1,400 euros. Read the story here. If you can help towards the vet fees, paypal tinasolera@hotmail.co.uk Sandy will also need a forever home when she is recovered.

  • Update on Galgo Ken in Valencia – needing a very special home

    Ken after op 11 02 2011 250 You remember brave Ken, the galgo hit from behind by a motor vehicle, rescued by Galgos del Sol and now with Galgo Connection Spain in Valencia. Silvia’s vet and the team are helping rebuild his body and he is now mobile with his personal wheelchair!

    Here is the latest news about him from Silvia.

    ‘Now we take him to rehabilitation, he has more muscles in the back side, something is confused because he moves the tail and the legs but has not sensibility, the vet is looking if he gets better with the rehab.

  • Voice for the Voiceless – Galga Savia – please help the animals

    Arca de No Savi_6 04 2011 190 This is Savia – she is blind! She was found by a Spanish girl and was living in a field near to the old mineworks on the outskirts of Mazarron. Noah’s Arc went to the field where they eventually found SAVIA laying in the sun. When they got near her she
    immediately got up and they could see that she had cataracts on both eyes.
    Unfortunately when they tried to put a collar and lead on her she took flight. One hour later they managed to catch her.

  • Galgo Romero goes to his forever home – another incredible survivor of the horror of Spain

    Romero Lisa wanting a kiss 250 Romero is another incredible galgo, abandoned as a puppy, severly ill and injured, terrified of humans, who found his way into the home and heart of an English couple in Murcia and has now joined his forever family.

    This is the link to the original story of Romero with Gaynor, Tina and the creation of Galgos del Sol. His journey towards life as a companion dog continued with a move to Malaga and the home of Lisa, friend of Charl del Rio of 112carlota galgos AGPE, and Charl tells the story of his life with Lisa and animal family.
