Please donate to vet fees to help galgo puppy Marino
It seems like only yesterday that little Marino, weak and fighting for his life, escaped with a vengeance. No one knew if he would make it—but this brave soul refused to give up. Today, filled with pride, Marino is taking a new step in his young life: his first vet visit.Today he’s receiving his first vaccinations, a microchip, and his European passport—symbols of a future that was almost stolen from him. Since his rescue, he’s grown into a strong, cheerful puppy weighing 11.20 kg (24 lbs), with eyes full of hope and a heart that finally dares to dream. -
Sick galgo at the gates of Pepis Dog Refuge –
Another little galgo pup at Pepis Refuge Gates. Jane Brian tells his story.
‘5 Jan 2017. Late last night the dogs in the refuge alerted us to a possible abandonment. We spent an hour searching around with the torch…but could not find anything. This morning when we were cleaning, the dogs started again so watching where they were looking barking we saw this little fella standing looking at us from outside the play area, so he could have been the reason for last night bless him. Unusual for just one so we had another search around but found nothing. He is very skinny and obviously scared. He will be visiting the vets this evening for a medical check-up. His name is Solo.

Dumped in trash bin…no 3
The horror for the dogs goes on. Having reported two separate stories of galgo pups being dumped in rubbish bins…here’s a third one, now saved.
Outrageous! Until when are we going to have to keep living these situations??
This morning (30/7/2015) we were in the car when we saw a group of people with two Guardia Civile looking in a dumpster. We stopped immediately because we feared the worst. And so it was, a galguita pup about 3 months had been lying in the dumpster in a bag.
Poor baby, being inside of the bag and nearly 40 degrees of temperature. Immediately I communicate to the Guardia Civile that we are a rescue and, even though at first they put to us a million questions! Finally we get the puppy to the vet.

A severe case of Mange – what happens if not treated
So many wonderful Spanish people now working hard to help the abandoned and discarded dogs in their country. Yet it never fails to astound me that there sre STILL so many ignorant unfeeling people who can just walk by the sight of an animal suffering! One such case is Lucy, a little galga rescued with Scooby. Cobie tells the story.
‘This sweet little galga girl is Lucy, she´s 5 months old and was saved a few weeks ago from the perrera provincial from Valladolid by Scooby. The police had brought her there because she was walking on the street although she had an owner which was a gypsie. That person has done nothing about the severe mange she was suffering of and her whole body was covered in blood, infections and bad wounds.

Galgo pup Eros – saved from hanging!
This pretty little pup is Eros, in the care of Levriers du Sud. Only 5 months old, he was found by a volunteer who was walking her dogs. She saw this little galgo on a tree branch. She went over and realized that he had been hung to the tree but was able to climb on a branch saving his own life! Resourceful little guy!
It’s hard to believe that anyone would hang a young puppy… They can’t tell me that it’s because he was no good for hunting… he’s so young, he’s probably never hunted. It’s insane!
