Puri says ‘I have no room, he is giving me until Monday to do something. I have offered a refuge that can take care of them in terms of veterinary and other expenses but do not have room, so I need shelter for two.’

  • Communicating with Animals –

Pet_Psychic_Joanne Hull 170 Last weekend I treated myself to a weekend away – no lying in the sunshine by the side of a pool for me – rather joining half a dozen more animal lovers at a retreat in the woods of the Limousin region of France, for a weekend of learning to talk with animals! Joanne Hull, known as the Pet Psychic, was the tutor and she made the subject thoroughly fascinating and enjoyable. We students even got to practice too.

This is what Joanne’s website says about ‘talking with animals’.

‘Psychic simply means using your intuition on a telepathic level, animal communication is the SIMPLE ability to listen, which to you and me means to become sensitive, to use our intuition, our gut feeling, giving our minds, hearts and souls the permission to fully experience what an animal sees, feels and senses.

  • QuiQue and Risa – have you a special place in your home?

QUIQUE2336 250 We regularly have galgos and podencos to stay overnight at our home in France, en route from Spain to their foster and forever homes. I love them all, but once in a while there is a special one. My husband took to this handsome chap on the rescue last weekend (19/03/2011). This is QuiQue, a magnificent rough-haired galgo, full of life and just craving for his forever home. Sadly we couldn’t even foster him as Floyd, our French lurcher, doesn’t like other large male dogs. QuiQue had been in a refuge for a year, if you can offer him a forever home, contact L’Europe des Levriers.
And don’t forget my foster galga Risa, also looking for her forever home.

  • Hanged galgos in Toledo – Baas Galgo takes the murderer to Court

Hanged galgo 4 16 03 2011 250 Sickening story of animal abuse but, at the same time, heartening if the perpetrator is brought to justice and severe penalties inflicted on him. Story received today from Baas Galgo.

A man confessed to having hanged his greyhounds because “it was the custom to do so at the end of the hunting season”. The animals had a microchip, which helped to locate the culprit. This case is being investigated by the court of Torrijos and the hunter faces a prison sentence.

  • Galgo rescuers brave snowstorms to save the innocents

Link to the story of L’Europe des Levriers’ rescue at the end of January, in a snowstorm. They brought out many galgos and a couple of podencos from the refuge at Herencia, run by Rosario, including two puppies found hiding under a makeshift shelter, whom Rosario named Draco and Kyra. Draco has been adopted by an artist. As always, some of the dogs have to be left behind, waiting for the next rescue. Enjoy the pix.

Well, there’s Carmela, then foster galga CR – we’re preparing her Pet Passport for UK entry, if anyone is interested, and then there’s little Podenca Andaluz Bebe.

  • Zafra, Badajoz, Spain – how can a man do this?

Dode galgo in Zafra, Badajoz. (1) 250 Correct me if I am wrong, but there are few good things to come out of Badajoz, Extremadura. Mariangeles is one, other valiant animal rescue volunteers, those Spanish who abhor the practices of the hunters and the bad name they give the city, the road out…..

Served his master, abandoned by his master, injured on the road, died of starvation and dehydration………….Zafra, Badajoz. And Badajoz had the audacity to apply for City of Culture status in 2016!
