    Let’s not forget the shelters on the islands where so many people spend holidays in the sun…Gran Canaria, Tenerife, Mallorca, Ibiza…….behind the glitz, abandoned dogs and cats struggle to survive. It’s only thanks to the few shelters and volunteers that some of them are saved. But they still need to find forever homes, mostly on the European mainland.

  • TARA Gran Canaria – neutering programme a great success

    TARA neutering 1250  09 2011TARA is an animal rescue association on Gran Canaria in the Canary Islands; in September they arranged a neutering programme for dogs and cats with a team of Danish vets and medical staff and this is what Brian, a volunteer with TARA, says about its success.

    ‘Dog & Cat Neutering Program A Success. The dog and cat neutering project in Mogan county from 14 to 21 September proved a big hit for all concerned.

  • TARA Gran Canaria – 14-21 September, can you help?

    If you are going on holiday to Gran Canaria at the beginning of September, TARA animal shelter are running a dog and cat sterilisation programme and they need help.

    Friends Helping Friends

    TARA Animal Respect Association is coordinating a humane cat and dog sterilisation project with the Danish Friends of Animals, a dedicated animal advocacy group headquartered in Denmark (where else?). From 14 thru 21 September, these generous folks are donating medical personnel, pharmaceuticals, and equipment to neuter street cats and abandoned dogs housed in our community shelters and kennels. The goal is the sterilisation of 250 homeless cats and dogs. Every animal will also receive immunisation protection and treatment if injured or ill.
