  • Galgueros claim not to hang dogs – liars! Please help Julia heal

    Julia hanged cord 03 04 2011 250 The galgueros deny they hang dogs, they say it never happens now. I have seen with my own eyes that this is not true. And here is yet more proof that they lie. This is Julia;

    ‘Human cruelty has no limits and is clearly reflected in our little Julia. It does not take much imagination to feel the pain she has suffered, yet the hunters deny once again they do this, so cruel and heartless.

  • Zafra, Badajoz, Spain – how can a man do this?

    Dode galgo in Zafra, Badajoz. (1) 250 Correct me if I am wrong, but there are few good things to come out of Badajoz, Extremadura. Mariangeles is one, other valiant animal rescue volunteers, those Spanish who abhor the practices of the hunters and the bad name they give the city, the road out…..

    Served his master, abandoned by his master, injured on the road, died of starvation and dehydration………….Zafra, Badajoz. And Badajoz had the audacity to apply for City of Culture status in 2016!

  • Happy Endings, Chiclana – hoping so for their podencos and galgos

    Happy Endings Chiclana 250 Happy Endings is a new association formed in southern Spain in the Chiclana area. Its founder, Margarita Gloersen is Norwegian and has been rescuing starving and injured dogs in the area for some years. This is their story.

    ‘My name is Margarita Gloersen from www.happy-ending-final-feliz.eu in Chiclana de la Frontera, Cádiz.

    I have been working with dogs since I arrived Chiclana in 2005. I am from Norway, and when I came I just could not believe my day to day experiences with animals lying in the road, killed by cars and all the others just left to themselves with no chances to survive in the long run. Sooner or later they would become run over by cars, since all the trash bins are alongside the roads.

    ‘Last week arrived the first 33 galgos from another 100 from Seville, the rest will come this week. I´ll send you pictures of them and also pictures from 2 galgos of this group who have burn marks on their thighs, This is something the gypsies do, like a kind of microchip but more painfull for the poor dogs. They do it with acid from batteries or with a hot iron like with horses or cows.

  • Galga Gaby finds her forever home

    LALI Tina Solera 250 Among the galgos rescued in Murcia at the end of the winter 2010 hunting season was a brindle bitch, living rough in a series of pipes. Tina Solera set out to catch her, but that was easier said than done. Over two weeks went by, the galga evading capture until one day she was spotted sharing a pizza with a little girl. Tina gave a collar and leash to the girl, who got the collar over the galga’s head, and at last she could be taken to the refuge.
