  • Canine love and loyalty – and the bestiality of the Spanish hunters

    Here is a story of loyalty and love between dogs. Totally the opposite of the bastard hunter, who left his bloodied shoes behind! For those of you who have not travelled into the Spanish heartlands and hell on earth for galgos, this also gives you an insight into some of the terrain in which they have to survive.     Fidelidad: A Story of horror, fidelity and hope. Only 50 km from Madrid a galgo (one of many) is abandoned. Someone crosses her path, follows her and wants to help. He sees that she is guarding, that she doesn’t want to leave and she doesn’t want anyone to come near. The dead galga was her friend. A few meters away are the blood smeared shoes and the rest of the rope. (baler twine, impossible to break!)

  • Valencia – two more podencos abandoned on the streets, please help

    Podenco Valencia 28 01 2011 250 Podenquita young and beautiful abandoned in the street. She is very affectionate and friendly, but not allowed to approach or pet. She wears a red collar, appears to have been lost or escaped from a hunter.     This is Betty, a female podenquita small, tan and medium length hair, abandoned in Cordoba. She is very suspicious, does not let you come, does not trust. These photos were taken by a friend was with me. This little bitch is on the street, she seems to be stuck, because there is absolutely no trust in humans. There is a girl who puts food and water down when she goes to this town but she does not live there.

  • Mairena perrera – more cheap accommodation in Spain!

    Mairena 8 23 01 2011 210 The Mairena perrera rears its ugly head again. Podencos and galgos amongst the poor souls dumped there to be killed, even a puppy, also a black and white spaniel; living in horrendous conditions. It’s cold, wet, dirty – they are starving – why feed a dog when it’s going to be killed! Cry for these poor souls. If any one can help save them from a miserable death.

  • Cheap accommodation in Spain, book into a perrera!

    Gesser is another perrera in Jerez, southern Spain. It is built for 70 dogs but there are 190 there, mostly they will be killed. Amongst the dogs were 35 galgos taken there by the hunters. Pro-Galgo reports on their German website that 80 dogs were saved by various associations both in Spain and abroad. This is a basic translation.

  • Murcia perrera – Baas Galgo save 6 galgos from death row

    ‘Galgos are key to the success of a hunt, but many of them are killed or abandoned by their owners when hunting season ends. Rescue Associations claim that animals have become a disposable tool. Many were hung from a tree after a hunt, others are thrown into a well or wounded by a shot as punishment if the hunt has not been successful, and only the best are left in the field.

    The Service for the Protection of Nature of the Guardia Civil (Seprona) has rescued 24 dogs from a rural property in Parla that were in “very poor sanitary conditions, ” accusing the owner of the animals for falsifying the health files and vaccinated illegally.
