  • Rey, King of the Galgos – needs your help

Rey Charl 250 3 2012112carlotagalgos is a very small family association which concentrates on rescuing and rehabilitating traumatised, sick and injured galgos and podencos. Some months ago we told the story of Rey, abandoned, surviving on virtually nothing, he’d finally collapsed and almost given up the struggle. Some months on, he is doing ok, but a new problem has arisen. Rey needs help! He needs you, we need you! Here’s his story…

Rey came to 112 Carlota Galgos several months ago, found giving up, life had let him down. He lay in the dust with life draining from him,.. down and out. He was seen and rescued. He stayed with his rescuer in Sevilla for a month and along with Polyana joined us at 112 carlota galgos for us to recouperate them and socialise them into family life.

Rey .. seems he has everything against him, he is a black galgo in Spain, he is older and he is a natural hunter. He cannot be scolded for something which has been bred into him, he lived and kept himself alive by hunting. He is a hunter, he will hunt, and yet he will walk by your side like the gentlest galgo you know.

It is possible her uteris and womb are damaged, she has been operated on and is now in a foster home in Cadiz.

  • Galgo Carlos – looking for his forever home in the UK

Carlos2 IHR Valerie Wood 29 11 2010 250 This is Carlos, who sadly lost one of his hind legs as a result of being shot. He is looking for his forever home in the UK. Here’s what Valerie Wood of Ibizan Hound Rescue says about him.

‘Carlos is a lovely boy, very nervous of strangers but once he knows people his so soft and loving.

Carlos was “rescued” by an Irish man who found him on his land. Carlos had been shot in the hind leg by hunters. The Irish man did his good deed by taking Carlos to the vets and saying that if they performed surgery he would pay for it and that Carlos was now his dog. Sadly Carlos was never collected from the vets and the bill was never paid.

  • Update on galgo Ruso, victim of a hit & run accident in Murcia

Ruso xray ventrodorsal 250 200 Update on Ruso, the rough-haired galgo taken to Los Infiernos refuge in Murcia, where Tina is a volunteer. Because the refuge is in difficulties at the moment, we have been working behind the scenes at Galgo News and with GRIN in the US and Silvia in Valencia. Ruso travelled to Valencia where he has been seen by Silvia’s vet and x-rays taken of his injuries. He has a broken hip, which will require an operation.

Silvia will be sending more news when it is available. Bless this poor boy, he has been in such pain, but now he will get the best of care. Tina has used donations so far to cover his transport and towards the vet fees.
