Operation Rehala, Bullas, Murcia – please help the podencos too
Los Perros de Bullas – Today (8th March 2012) it has been agreed with much teamwork from The Little Pod Foundation, SOS Animals UK, the Animal Welfare Support Murcia group and Podenco Friends to find temporary care and rescue for some of the misfortunate Podencos in the Bullas tragedy. If the rescue is successful, it is hoped that between 8 and 10 dogs will be saved, plus any puppies that are still there. Friday 9th March 2012 is the ONLY day now permitted to rescue any of these dogs.

Here’s a message from Alex at Pro-Setter Spain.
He is waiting for Judicial confirmation that the day which will be put aside for all associations to rescue the galgos, podencos and other hunting dogs in OPERATION REHALA (BULLAS, MURCIA) will ONLY be next Friday, 9th March 2012, and he asks that every association contacts him at colabora@pro-setter.org so that he can take deails of them and every dog, and how many, with a view to co-ordinating the operation an an orderly and appropriate manner.

Tina Solera of Galgos del Sol says, ‘Pro-Setter Spain is co-ordinating the rescue. On 2nd March La Fortaleza, GdS, Andreas Animal Rescue & The Henrietta Foundation joined forces to rescue some of these dogs. Between us we took 14 out. The Henrietta Foundation has been a real rock to GdS throughout this rescue and the camp rescue. We could not do it without them. Pro-setter are co-ordinating this rescue, please contact them if you can take any dogs. They are doing a great job.’

Facilities, a fenced field of little more than 1,000 square meters located in a rural area, were staying around 120 dogs of different ages and races, mostly corresponding to the varieties that often are used for the exercise of hunting like greyhounds, podencos, pachones and English setters, among others.
