  • Prodeanse, Seville – Galgo puppy saved and needing help

Paula Prodeanse puppy 1 250 1 2014This poor galga has been named Paula, a baby of about 3 months old, taken from a gypsy by Prodeanse, Seville, one of the shelters I visited in 2012. She had vomiting, diarrhea – from which she was dehydrated – and a broken leg. It’s not the first dog that they have taken from this man, who cares very little about his animals.

Prodeanse are asking for your help to pay the vet fees for Paula. The operation to repair her leg will be between 600-700 euros and there is all the medication for her too. Here’s a Bing translation of their appeal.

Loli says, ‘This is what we have to part the operation that will be more than 600 euros and we don’t have the money to pay for it yet. We need your help, it will invoice.

  • Prodeanse, Seville – Galga Nieves fighting to survive the abuse of a galguero

Prodeanse Nieves b4 vet 250I visited Prodeanse shelter when I was in Seville last year. The team work to help dogs in a very bad area for abandonment and cruelty. This is their story of Nieves.

SEVILLA / / Nieves… Rescued from the Cerro de Dos Hermanas

Nieves gave birth to her 9 puppies on the morning of the 27 June.
She was treated with amoxicillin/clavulamico (antibiotic), meloxican (anti-inflammatory) and a vitamin complex since she was rescued. On July 1 she went to the vet as an emergency.

  • Madrasa, Seville – abandoned galgos & podencos urgently need help

Seville galgos & podenco 300 1 2013These skeletal galgos with bad skin problems have appeared in Madrasa, a suburb of Seville, they have wounds on their bodies, two have broken tails and one has problems on a back leg. They are in an area where hunters often abandon their dogs, now hunting is drawing to a close.

The podencos are also in Madrasa. One podenco is injured, weighs about 10kg, and 5 babies. They are in an area of orange trees. The male podenco has not been seen for a week.

Please can anyone take them in, help us with them?

  • Prodeanse, Seville – saving more galgos and podencos

Prodeanse Mary 2 200 12 2012Prodeanse was one of the small shelters in Seville which I visited in September. It’s in a terrible area for abandonment of dogs – and horses and mules on tethers day after day, no shelter from the weather – hot or cold. Here are two more souls now in the care of the Prodeanse team.

    “MARY and PANDORA”

It hurts so much that we’d shout and scream, if thus we find peace and relief that we have never found because of many unfortunates… Mary and Pandora since they were born know first-hand the so-called “sack man” which is none other than a Hunter, galguero, rather bad guy, bastard, unfortunate… Although I would prefer to use another vocabulary!

  • Seville galga – at risk in a galguero village

Seville galga 200 11 2012Appeal is out to try and rescue this poor galga, in a village in Seville province, in an industrial area near a gitano camp. I’ve asked my friends at Prodeanse, as it sounds as if the galga is in the area near them – which is a hellhole village for galgos. Fingers crossed for the galga. • Galgos 112 Kina and Prodeanse Maika – help the galgos, beat the galgueros

Kina Galgos 250 112 11 2012Two sickening stories of maltreatment to galgos. Kina needs your support, was picked up by association ADAM, Animal Protection Association of Marchena, who say ‘Kina had been shot in the shoulder, has multiple injuries and after diagnosis has broken femur, humerus and hip – suspected dragged behind a car ‘training’ galgos. The galgo is a beautiful tiger brindle, only a year old’. Because of the seriousness of his injuries, ADAM asked Galgos 112 to take over his care and rehabilitation. Read about it here and to donate to vet costs.

Maika is another one of those angels who fall into the hands of galguero hicks, say Prodeanse.

  • Cheap Accommodation in Seville – bed but no breakfast!

Prodeanse galga 250 1 22 10 2012Another galga and babies who had a tough time, these are in Alcala del Rio, Seville. Luckily someone spotted the mom living in a tunnel with her 9 babies, and contacted Prodeanse, who got on with the rescue. The volunteer needed to crawl into the tunnel to get the babies, which she brought out in a shopping bag. They are all safe now, but foster homes are desperately needed, and eventual adoption homes. Contact Prodeanse. (English spoken)

  • Trip to Spain 2 – Seville – Prodeanse and Sofia El Refugio Escuela

Seville square 250The drive down to Seville from Valladolid was expected to take about 6 hours or so, so I’d bought a box of Lee Child audio tapes to help pass the time during the long drive. Much of the countryside through which the motorways pass is flat and barren – the land burnt brown by the scorching heat of the sun – broken up spasmodically by a narrow range of mountains topped with wind turbines, or massive solar panel farms on the plains – Spain is certainly ahead of France (where I live) in alternative power sources. The UK can’t compete as they simply haven’t the land mass.

One very noticeable difference from my previous visits to Spain was the lack of movement on building work – new roads part completed – now void of cranes, earth movers, building materials, silent and static – huge apartment blocks simply left as empty concrete shells, ‘se vende’ or ‘se alquila’ signs everywhere. (for sale and to rent). Clear evidence of the recession.
