    Protest 1 250 25 3 2012 Galgos sin FronterasOn Sunday 25th Mawrch 2012 at 1800, animal rights campaigners took to the streets in towns and cities throughout Spain to protest against the cruelty inflicted on animals in the name of tradition and fiestas. Here’s a translation the story.

    Madrid, March 25 (EFE). – Citizens of 31 Spanish cities organized through social networks have come this evening simultaneously on the street with their pets to seek tougher penalties for animal cruelty under the Criminal Code referred to in the “Second People’s Initiative not to animal abuse.”

  • Malaga – walking the streets in Protest

    Malaga protest group 1 250 2 2012Traffic in Malaga was today brought to a standstill when animal lovers in Andalucia took to the streets to protest about animal cruelty in Spain and in particular the plight of the galgos at the hands of the hunters. It’s at this time of year that the galgueros get rid of their dogs – upwards of 50,000 every year. The protestors wore black, many of the dogs wore black collars and scarves. Well done, everyone.

  • Protest in Madrid 23 October 2011 – PACMA need your support

    Now the Spanish government are trying to introduce an animal ‘protection’ law. If it goes ahead, they will fine anybody found feeding stray dogs or cats. Strays will be able to be euthanised 3 days after entering a compound.

    PACMA are organising a protest against this new law on Sunday, 23rd October in Madrid. If anyone is going, any associations protesting elsewhere, please be sure to let me know.

  • Chinese DO eat dogs and cats, including Irish greyhounds if we don’t STOP IT!

    This interesting information was in a comment today on Galgo News, which explains the horrors awaiting Irish and UK greyhounds exported to China. Darrell Leathen explains.

    ‘I am an Australian greyhound trainer and am appalled at irish g/racing for even contemplating exporting dogs to china, they kill and consume over 2 million cats/dogs per annum… they equate eating dog to an american eating a hotdog, someone ought to inform them they are made from lips and cheeks.. this cannot be allowed to happen and i will proposition greyhound racing victoria to speak with greyhound racing ireland to stop this abhorent exercise…we do not eat our mates/ BAN THIS PRACTICE’

  • Racing Dogs Protection Act – an official proposal

    This website has been sent to me by a supporter, please read and take action where requested. A point to note; WSPA are supporting this, yet they abandoned the cause of the galgos back in 2002/2003 and, according to the latest response I received from them, they have no plans to take the matter up again.
