This is really shocking me ! All over Europe animal-protectionist fight for the rights of stray-animals; they spay, they rescue abandonded animals, they heal the injured and care for the abused ones – without any support from their governments. …And now Spain, member of the European Union, is going backwards again ?!! That means the EU-animal-protection-laws are worth nothing,…if any country can still make its own animal-laws. So what is the EU for ?? For financing Spain`s bullfighting and also for supporting the perreras with money to keep spanish streets clean from strays ?!
If animals can be killed after 3 days only, I wouldn`t travel to Spain with my dog any more…imagine this: He runs away for some reason and I can`t find him anywhere the next 3 days…

I was absolutely horrified to read about the
proposal by the Spanish Government – supposedly intelligent men and women who
cannot understand a basic fact of life, deal with the stray dog problem with
neutering, enforcing the laws of responsible animal ownership etc. Leaving
the dogs to starve and die on the street is simply going to give an even worse
image of Spain to te rest of the World. And how will the volunteers and
saviours of these dogs cope? They already have all the emotional and
physical stress of dealing with the problem – are they expected to just stand by
and do nothing for fear of being targeted by the law? Its
    unbelievable!
We have to support them as much as we
    can.

    Thanks Janice, needs publicising everywhere.
I shudder to think what this will mean if it is passed! One thing is for
sure, its no way to deal with the stray dog problem, it will only make it
worse! And they expect the volunteers to stand by and watch the abandoned
    dogs starve to death?!!
