Protest in Madrid 23 October 2011 – PACMA need your support
This news received from Esdaw.
Now the Spanish government are trying to introduce an animal ‘protection’ law. If it goes ahead, they will fine anybody found feeding stray dogs or cats. Strays will be able to be euthanised 3 days after entering a compound.
PACMA are organising a protest against this new law on Sunday, 23rd October in Madrid. If anyone is going, any associations protesting elsewhere, please be sure to let me know.

ESDAW – fighting for the rights of abused animals across Europe
This is the link to ESDAW, a new organisation formed at the beginning of 2011 to work on getting European law on animal protection enforced across all member states. Their vice president lives near to me, so I am looking forward to meeting her and discussing how we can put more pressure on both the EU – and in my case Spain – to help make a difference. I like to think that we will provide support in this area which the marvellous volunteers, associations and refuges in Spain – and across Europe – do not always have the time to devote, as they daily cope with the overwhelming pressure of dealing with abandoned, sick and injured dogs.
